Obv this because the fashion industry is largely run by misogynist gay men. This, however, is best filed under "don't get me started".

Pretty much this-- if there is any place where 'too skinny for their own good' is common it's probably the fashion industry. Then again I don't pay attention to it a whole lot, so I'm going on some preconceived notions here.

Ostensibly related would be bikini/victoria's secret types but they tend to have some curves and be at a healthier weight (again with the preconceived notions..). I think we can mostly all agree that a most good lingerie models are extremely hot.

On that note I think that is where the happy medium-- If the vast majority of men think a particular woman or body type is hot, it's probably a good and healthy weight. When you have a non-trivial amount of reasonable people saying 'that bitch is too fat/disgusting' or 'she looks like a fucking underweight teenage boy with fake tits', she is probably not in that optimum range.

Clearly, personal preference plays a big role here but thinking about it in ranges I think mitigates a lot of that. Or maybe it's one of those things that sounded good in my head but when I wrote it... not so much.
