To answer your question, there are a long list of [good] reasons, the core of which has to do with what villain's range would be combined with the pot odds given. Also we never said that villain called an all-in.

To the greater issue: shit like this is what I'm talking about. Look deeper than "omfg why would he call there" and try to find the lesson in things instead of suffering from diarrhea of the brain.

Happens even more often in limit. Villain wants to see the turn, just in case his 2 outer comes in. I'm guilty of it against particularly donkish lagtards, but I don't know how many times I've seen a weak Ax cold caller take down a KK or QQ.

Now, Queens with a King on the flop, or Jacks with a Queen on the flop, that is a different story and altogether much more complex. But so many people will call preflop with any ace - especially in LHE - that an ace flop is time to fold that KK 99% of the time. Unless of course you hit your set

I learned a long time ago you're probably not level 0 posting, here. So here's my guess at your level 2 point in the op:

So what if we get flamed in the forums, so long as we learn something? It's better to learn for free (+ a bit of embarrassment) than to take our ignorance to the tables where it can cost us money.

Here's my take on the thread you mentioned. Spoon, you're always out of line. So your posts are always making us all LoL + we learn something. Unlike a couple of other FTR icons I could name who drop into the Beginner's Forum once a week for monosyllable posts, you actually hang out in the Beginner's Forum a good bit, offering good threads, posts and comments on HH's. You often read FTR a lot more widely than most of us do, so you post links to other content we probably missed. In short, you help the newbies.

Now, the downside of all this help - the price we pay - is the ungentle nature with which you treat irony, idiocy, and incompetence.But I for one would rather be abused in a thread than abused at the poker table. And more than one of your posts in my threads has both stung and been right on target. Here is an example:

I hate it when people whine after a suckout about how they "deserved" to win the pot. If you put your money in without the stone cold nuts, then you're gambling, and if you lose, you don't deserve a goddamn thing. It's just ridiculous how many players have a sense of entitlement (this is especially prevalent among tourney donks between the ages of 18-24, but it affects a lot of cash game players as well). Fact is we've all run well to make this much money playing a computer game; it'd be nice if people could show a little humility instead of whining like a little bitch every time they lose a pot.

It's just about objectivity and having fun. I pick with people and I expect them to do the same to me, but at the same time I try to give advice about the few things I do know a little bit about having to do with poker.
