Typically when I take a stab at a new level (especially one I've never played) I like to play a little more snug. Don't call down lightly, try to avoid playing OOP as much as possible, don't 3bet too aggressively, etc etc until you develop reads on the regulars at the new stake. Obviously take the fish to the cleaners, but vs the regs try to be more conservative until you develop some reads.
Starting out with fewer tables isn't a bad idea, but you don't have to drop from 5 to 2, drop to 3 or 4 and really focus. Going from 5 to 2 will likely cause boredom after a while and result in ill-advised opens/calls/3bets/cbets/younameit.
Cliffs: Play your same game that was beating 4nl, though I recommend slightly more conservative. It's the same game, just bigger numbers. Think in terms of bb, not $.
