I think we've had this discussion before. Black people in the US have appropriated the n-word for their own use, so that when they say it to each other, it's not offensive. This irks some white people who feel they're being victimized because if they call a black person the n-word, it's seen as racist. The whole thing is about as ridiculous as it gets.

My preferred solution is for white people who feel this way to start calling their white friends 'honky' and know that black people can't call them that. That'll show 'em.
