Words, especially ones with extremely strong historical connotations should be used with extreme care, but context and meaning is what matters, not syntax. A word is just a word, and this circling around using "the n-word" when it's clearly obvious what word we're talking about is ridiculous. Any words can be used offensively, just like they can be used inoffensively. Banning the use of words sounds medieval to me.

    Tabooing words is one of the most childish and deleterious things adults do.
