Yeah sorry should have mentioned the reason for not 3betting pre - both had high fold to 3bet stats (65%+) and I wanted the fish to stay in. Now all that said, I think maybe I should have just 3bet anyway, as it would reduce my positional disadvantage, but at the time I wanted to keep their ranges wider and keep the fish along.

65% is not really that high of a fold to 3bet %, and you've also got to remember that in LP wars, people call 3bets lighter and isolating the fish has tons of value.
