It's not FTR or the guy's link. It's your browser. You're probably using Chrome which I believe auto-downloads them. Try clicking on it in Firefox, I think Firefox will ask you if you want to download it. A word doc file isn't exactly going to blow up your computer so your browser considers it low risk. If he linked to an EXE file then your browser would alert you.
