4bet or flat?

    Default 4bet or flat?

Villain is 58/18 100% cbet mega fish who likes to raise big or shove AI on the flop alot. If he doesn't do that he's a calling station.

Plan was to call pre, hopefully trap his mega overbet on the flop and laugh. Didn't quite work out that way.

So......is it ever worth trying to get tricky like this? Also, overall line check?

UTG raiser + SB = flatting is terrible.
Playing big pots at small stakes.

Yeah kind of thought that would be the general consensus. Trying to work on mixing up my play and obviously still have trouble choosing good spots to do so.

3bet it pre and let him spew postflop in a bloated pot, instead of a 2b pot.

Much better idea. Pretty sure in this particular case it would have all gone in pre if I had 3bet too.

Think in future I will just play my Aces straight forwardly and try to be tricky elsewhere! haha

Why are you trying to get fancy at the micros? ABC poker is the best way to beat the lower levels. FPS will cause you to go broke, most times.

this is almost always going to be the best plan at microstakes, barring some extremely weird dynamics (ie AA UTG when someone in MP has open-jammed 100bb preflop the last 4 hands. god i love those guys)

If you ever do that, do it in position against EP nits.

My thinking has been it would be better to learn to mix up my game at the lower stakes rather than the higher stakes as I will lose much less when I invariably make mistakes trying new stuff.

With more thinking and playing I'm beginning to realise that mixing it up at these stakes serves no useful purpose and just gets me into tricky spots.

I think that you've mistaken what is meant by "mixing it up". I'm assuming that you're refering to 'adjusting and exploiting your opponents'. If that's what you're looking for then there's a good excercise for that in the BC digest. If I'm WAY off base then I appologize.
