Default 5NL AK from SB - hit TPTK but get 3bet

no stats or reads on this guy, really when I get 3bet I'm most worried about KQ hands.

Is it ok to get it in with this hand or does his 3bet range have me crushed?

    First off, this isn't a 3bet it's a raise.

His range from the bu is really wide so as far as 2 pair hands go he's got more than KQ, but he's prolly got quite a few fd's and random Kx hands. He's also almost never putting you on AK since you flatted from the sb. Button v blinds play gets weird for me because we're dealing with such wide ranges. Because the board is so wet we wanna reraise enough for him to make a mistake by calling with his draws but not so much that we're committed if he ships over the top. Not that calling his ship would be horrible, but it would give us the option. Prolly 3bet something like $1.70.

Also, I wouldn't lead the flop. If we let him cbet and c/r we can keep the pot smaller and get out easier if he ships over and we feel we're crushed.

WTF is this. 3-bet preflop, as played c/r flop, as played 3 bet and get it in.

ouch. well preflop I was thinking if I flat I keep in his wide range of hands, plus if I miss flop I can get away from it easy. I just didn't like the position.

Should I always 3bet AK pre?

Its folded to the button, so this is a steal, any 2 cards, your way ahead of his range, If you 3bet, you either take it down there and then or he may think your'e defending your blinds and not give you credit . 3Betting gives you the initiative, aggression pays.

not necessarily. but in this case it is likely your opponent continues with a lot of worse Ax hands, KQ, small pairs etc. so you can get value pre+postflop as well as cbetting appropriate boards and getting "better" hands (which will usually be the small/mid pair part of his range) to fold. so in this case it's a mix of 3betting for value + gaining the initiative so we have more playability postflop.

As mentioned already, its a raise not a 3bet. And since you already ask this question, I think you are pretty unsure what's the purpose of your donkbet, but speculation aside. Donkbet usually represents top pair or stronger hand, and is very useful vs tilting raging villain who hate donkbets and maniacally raise any donkbet they encounter. Therefore, this villains raise is not crushing you, but is instead pretty pretty wide. As played shove or reraise happily.
But next time do what smartguys above me said.
