A newbie thought on the Big Blind.

Is it correct to think that Pots would be easy to take on the flop (From the BB Position), if not many people called the BB?

Say, One person in Mid Position and the Button called, and when the flop comes it's all low cards, like 9 and under, Is this a good position to bet when you're the big blind?

My thinking behind this is that because you're the BB and you didn't have to call to see the flop, it's not too unlikely that you have low/trashy cards anyways. And, when the flop comes all lower cards, and you raise at the BB position, maybe 3X BB, Does it portray strength enough to convince the others to fold? This is just a thought that's occured to me since I started playing, and I'm still new.. So am I correct in thinking this way? Is this a Viable play?

yup, but question is, is it worth it? will he give you credit enough to fold enough time so that you can make a profit from the measly pot?

I prefer doing this when betting into 3 players, this way people tend to believe me more since there's "another player" and they usually won't call me without some piece of the flop.

Also depends on who you're bluffing, some ppl might never open any hand except AA, some might never fold with A high, others just give you credit all the time...

But yeah, I'd say making this play when you feel the other player will fold enough will be a profitable play inthe long run.

I didn't really think about having more people in for the bigger pot, I thought that it would make the bet more inferior because there would be a higher chance of somebody having something (more people, Would think that someone could have hit Ax or Kx and paired their lower card)

I could definitely be wrong btw... and I never bet into a 4way pot unless I have a reason to believe i got the best hand,
3 way pots, I do oftentimes bet into because it's credible and very possible noone has anything, 2 way pots I tend to give up when I'm in the SB just because I don't think it's worth it to steal my own BB (if I have any piece of it though i'll bet into it, even if it's just a gutshot)

Actually in a 3way limped pot, I bet into any paired board except J-A pair (they got to think I have the pair), many low dry boards (I could've definitely hit it) and quite a few K/A high dry boards (most ppl who limp won't have a K or A and could easily check my weak A/K)

(most of my cbets work because I play tight and people can give me respect so when I stab, I often take it down and hopefully when I don't take it down I actually have a hand or can luck out on the turn. then obviously there's those maniacs who float everything so I just c/f against them with nothing)

Bluffing out of the big blind is usually -EV, except for when you have good reads on your opponents. The notable exception (which isn't really relevant <50nl) is 3 betting out of the big blind against a LP raiser who is stealing (your reads determine if he's likely to be stealing).

I have got into far too much trouble doing this, make a bet and get called, then all of a sudden you pick up some draw on the turn and before you know it you have put in a sizeable amount of chips.

On and around the bubble id make this play but early on im happy to see a free flop and get out if i dont hit strong.

Depends. In 6max microstakes, almost any unraised pot is easy to take down from any position - when no one makes a hand. The key is a relentless search for "orphaned" pots, pots where no one has much of anything (including you). Since no one has invested much, they're pretty willing to fold to aggression. That said, it is also a good way to win some small pots and lose a few big ones.

Playing in unraised pots (without the nuts) is difficult. At 6max, I'm generally betting when I catch any piece of the flop or when everyone else has checked at least once and a blank peels off. But watch your reads and the stacks, and don't overcommit. Stay agro enough to grab the orphans, and try not to get half a stack deep with garbage.
