I have no idea how to combat senseless exclusionism.
How do you encourage people to realize that the people coming across the border are literally no different than the people in their own extended family, who are already Americans?

Oh no, they commit crimes! We all know Americans never commit crimes, so it's a valid criticism to vilify those crime-doers.
They want jobs! Those assholes want to come into our country and create value! The nerve!
They send money to their families in other countries! The richest Americans send most of their money into off-shore bank accounts with more favorable interest rates and other perks compared to American banks. They have the most incentive to find loopholes in tax laws, and they can afford to pay a specialist to find those loopholes. You think poor people sending money to their families even registers on this scale? C'mon... just c'mon.
Grow some balls and stop being afraid of people just because you haven't met them, yet, or their skin is a slightly different color, or they have less money than you.
Cowards.
