Default I Think I Played Badly OTT. Thoughts?

    Hand#3437E90A92000085 - $2 Bounty Turbo T15272594 -- CASH -- $2 + $0.2 -- 9 Max -- Table 5 -- 0/30/60 NL Hold'em -- 2013/09/01 - 21:04:04

I ended up winning this hand, but I think I could have played it better OTT and probably OTR. I'd like some thoughts, please.

As for the villain, I had seen him 3-bet shove w/ AJ off a couple of hands ago.

    UTG+1 - (Hero) 1,615
    MP 1 - 2,000
    MP 2 - 1,860
    HJ - 1,509
    CO -2,165
    BTN - 3,007
    SB - 5,428
    BB - 996
    UTG - 1,990

    Pot is 90
    Dealt to Hero T, T

fold, Hero raises to 180, MP1 calls 180, fold, HJ calls 180, four folds

    Pot is 630

    *** FLOP *** 8, 7, 4

Hero bets 315, fold, HJ calls 315
    Pot is 1260

    *** TURN *** 8

Hero bets 400, HJ calls 400
    Pot is 2060

    *** RIVER *** 5

Hero checks, HJ is all in 614, Hero calls 614

I bet so small OTT because it was a blocker bet. I didn't want to c/f to a bet and get bluffed off the hand. A8 was very likely to have called behind pre and to call OTF, so I was scared Villain had an eight. I hoped it would seem like a "please call me" bet and would get most things to fold, and would let Villain raise w/ the 8. Should I have just jammed here?

I c/c river because I thought something weak would check back. I also thought that if I jammed, the only things calling were things that beat me, of which there are more options now. Should I have been the one to jam first since I didn't jam OTT?

Bet flop 400, shove turn. Easy money.

lol at blocker bet with overpair vs a fish.

So, if Villain has the 8, then he has the 8 and it's nh, gg? Or, does he not have an 8 as often as I think he would here?

This. If this guy is willing to 3bet shove AJo pre, then I'm expecting him to drool with flopped top pair. Sure he might have an 8, but his flop call makes it at least a little less likely, and regardless, it's not all he has in his range, and he's not folding any other pair or any draw he called on the flop to a turn shove, simply because he hasn't got all that many chips left after calling flop. If he has an 8, yeah gg, make your note and get your remaining chips in on your big blind. The value we get from all his other hands makes up for the times he has an 8, so yeah I'm not at all concerned about getting it in on turn.
