They invited a physics professor to test new airport security equipment. They know he's trying to hide something, they don't find anything. He continues to produce enough thermite to eat through whatever you like. Security professional states he is not amused by this. Professor responds that it's not a joke.
That aside: airport security probably helps to weed out the dumbest conceivable offenders and many of them are presumably very stupid.
