    It's scary to think how often in day to day life what I say means the exact opposite of what I mean.

    It's especially strange how people from certain countries get it and others don't, was one of the most interesting things about having lots of people from all over when I was at uni.

    This is a real English trait, as Willbur pointed out. That's why Germans get frustrated in England, and English can't stand Germans. Germans just say what they mean, and the English get offended.
