poker is a funny beast. 3 months into 2013 and it's still my job.
fitness and injury rehab is a funny thing. 3 months into 2013 and i'm almost back to fine on the rehab front after messing my body up in a fall in november last year. I'm now swimming without problems, riding my bike again, going on light runs, climbing on toprope, etc. Still not getting in the ocean for surf or hunting because I need to do more work on my core-stability, nor am i running seriously or on tarmac cos i'm not sure about high impact stuff just yet, same goes for lead-climbing and bouldering..

Local enviro-politics is going well. I'm putting my pre-poker experience as a not to be messed with public service principal analyst to good use, and it's helping the cause. Back then i got paid a whole lot to do bureaucracy stuff, and now i'm doing it as a passionate volunteer. Poker allows that, it's pretty cool. But i do need to remember to put in the hours on the poker front too, cos i still need to pay the bills!

there are supermarkets and/or liquor stores between me and almost all of my local fishing spots I got a new filleting knife yesterday, then went fishing and got to try out the knife last night. Turns out that using a filleting glove plus a super sharp custom blade makes things a lot faster... I'm going to buy a chest freezer sometime in the next couple of weeks and then i'll fill it with enough fish fillets to last the winter! and then i guess i'll get psyched and go buy a rifle to be able to go get myself some wild goat and venison. Guess i should get a big freezer rather than a small one...

Then we've got a mixture of things going on. The owner of the tree gets to keep as much as they want (which can be the entire crop, up to them) and the rest either gets directly distributed to social support groups who are pretty good at getting the food to families who need it, or it gets used in food preservation (jams/etc) workshops and, again, most of what is preserved will end up going where it is needed. Pretty fucking cool stuff to be involved with.
I didn't really expect a photo of me picking a pear to take up half a page in a newspaper, but all good - and the article was written just fine.

been playing quite a lot of poker. Bought a new computer today (well, paid anyway. It;s still being built) because the backlight on my laptop monitor died. Still able to use it via the 2nd monitor, but complicated.

did a live-to-air radio interview about this local politics issue this morning. Hasn't been podcast yet. I expected 5 minutes, it ended up 20 minutes. Life is pretty manic. And awesome.
