soaking up ethanol, moving on up
today i went to the pool and did some aqua-jogging (250metres) and swimming (about 1km) cos my physio said my body is recovered to the point where that is appropriate rehab. I took it nice and slow and it was pretty relaxing, although aqua-jogging is kinda frustrating. Now i'm a little muscle sore, but that seems to be all = i'm fine with that!

Yesterday i finished my sng grind on full tilt - mostly cos i'm sick of sngs and associated dodgy goings-on. I've kept 100k FTP points and $150 sitting there in reserve, but for now it's back to cash games. Had my first cash session on stars for what feels like quite a while and i am happy with how i played. I anticipate playing quite a few hours the next three weeks, plus swimming pretty much every single day.

This evening i'm meeting with a reporter to talk about some food project we've managed to get moving. Basically linking up people who are unable to harvest their prolifically fruiting apple/pear/plum trees with a bunch of people who are happy to volunteer to pick the fruit. Then we've got a mixture of things going on. The owner of the tree gets to keep as much as they want (which can be the entire crop, up to them) and the rest either gets directly distributed to social support groups who are pretty good at getting the food to families who need it, or it gets used in food preservation (jams/etc) workshops and, again, most of what is preserved will end up going where it is needed. Pretty fucking cool stuff to be involved with.

played a mix of tourneys and cash games on stars today. It felt like i was running arse on everything and i got grumpy so i quit and went on a four hour exploratory fishing trip. Logged back into stars and turns out i was only down like $20 or something = funny. Fishing was heaps fun though, so all good. Kept a few perch and a trout, put a few back. Big grind day planned tomorrow. That, plus aqua-jogging and some climb-training. Here are some fish from today, the freshwater kind, not the cash-game kind. Rainbow trout's head is a bit squashed cos i whacked it a little too hard perhaps? i prefer them to die instantly if i'm planning to eat them. The perch are pretty big for around here...

between going fishing, getting involved in local enviro-political stuff (here's a website we built http://www.pauatothepeople.org.nz/), and enjoying the last of summer i've barely got around to playing poker... but when i have played i've been playing a-game. Which makes me happy.

late morning yesterday and my gf asked for fish for the bbq. And 'variety please'. I put some back, but kept enough and a few hours later:
