I can't disagree, because that's a fact.

Thinking on a more macro level, we don't lose that much value later in the game since there is no vigilante who exposes us to losing 3 villagers every other night.

Just because we don't run the risk later in the game from a special doesn't mean that it's fine to run that risk on Day 1 due to a modkill. You claim "we don't lose that much value later in the game," but the fact is we do lose value by choosing to let spidey get modkilled.

Bottom line -- increasing the body count early in the game hurts the village in the long run. The more villagers we have around, the longer the village can hold out against the wolves and the more information we get to find/lynch the wolves.
