    You seem to be implying that this is not the case with most things people do. Humans excel because we specialize in a particular occupation or field of study. Everything besides our specialization is going to suffer. For example, raising children, participating in the political system, etc. So I'm not quite sure what you're getting at by mocking my critique of the tipping system-- especially when you yourself are against he tipping system.

    I think the main thing we disagree on is that you feel like a waitress is entitled to a tip just because I'm eating there, and I do not. I have not made an agreement with her (or him), so I am not obligated to pay her. If someone in the food industry thinks that customers are entering into an agreement to tip them because they are eating at the restaurant, then that doesn't magically make it so. An agreement is between two or more parties, not one party who wishes she got paid more.
