I suppose poker is an excellent tool for finding out stuff about yourself when it comes to ego and attitude - I guess I want to be good enough already for 50NL so I talk myself into believing I'll learn more there, when that may not be the case. I'll move down today.

i think you've hit the nail on the head. i did the same thing to myself a while ago. wise move.
