This hand really bugged me as I was trying to sleep, not because it's a cooler and cost me a deep stack buy in (good br management), but because I really think he told me on the flop what his hand was. This guy has bet every time he's on the button and it's checked over, so why not this time? When he checks this flop, I should realise something is wrong. He's firing 99% of his range (not an accurate stat, he's actually on 100% HU), that's exactly why I checked in the first place. He's never checking sets and 2pr on this flop, so when we get into a raising war on the turn he either hit the turn (aces-up? again I expect him to bet his kicker pair on the flop) or he flopped the nuts.

Fwiw, I called the turn 5bet and then realised he was shoving the nuts and maybe checking behind with sets and aces-up on the river, so I shoved the river (which of course was a blank) because I was always calling his shove and he's always calling mine. I didn't want to let his sets get away, and if they're in his range, I want stacks in.

I'm trying not to be results orientated here, I would prefer this guy can check a set on the flop and then stack off on the turn with it, but I'm not so sure. Can he really let me see a free card? Ok I guess even if I'm drawing on the straight, it's only 4 outs, so it's not insane to slow play a set HU. Meh I've convinced myself he has sets in his flop checking range. I feel better already.

I only tend to think about SPR when I'm facing a raise and I think I'm dominated, like 44 facing overpair etc. Why is it just as bad to have SPR of 15 compared to 45? Because he's still getting the implied odds to call a 3bet light?

And yeah, I don't think he gets it in with 2pr to this action, he must credit me for a set really. Not saying he folds 2pr but I doubt he stacks off on the turn, as he's clearly willing to do. This is always sets or nuts imo, it's just that fucking flop check that bugs me.

I didn't even realise it at the time either, but this is the biggest cash pot I've been involved in. Who's idea was it to play $10nl 6max deep? Cheers for that one surviva.

Icanhastreebet is right -- using SPR as a justification for 3betting here doesn't really work. With an SPR of 15, you're still deep enough that you can get about 3 full streets of betting without any raises (well, if one street is an overbet), which can be scary for a top-pair type hands like AA. There's an entire section about this in "Professional No Limit Holdem" -- I'm going to have to re-read that book, I think I was still at 5NL when I last read it.

He changed my mind -- flat calling is the better option here due to stacks.
