I won't be watching 127 Hours for a while because I don't wanna see anything srsbsn for now, but I know it's fantastic. Check out Touching the Void. If 127 Hours is the way I suspect it is, TtV is the best of the genre, and it's really not close. The story is the most insane thing anybody has ever heard of, and it's real

Its lolbad at parts but definitely funny and entertaining and worth a watch....i swear everything the protagonist says is a classic 1 liner

Ya, its pretty awesome. You should watch Evil Dead and Evil Dead 2 as well. They are kinda the prequels. But 1 and 2 are like the same movie, just in 2 Raimi got a bigger budget so the effects are better. I used to be pretty into 80's b movies. You should check out Dawn of the Dead if you're into this stuff. It's pretty much the definitive zombie movie imo, and surprisingly the '04 remake was really fucking good.

Just saw The Darjeeling Limited. Its a strange fucking film, but it does so with tremendous charm and je-ne-sais-qoui. I like it.

Plus, before watching it, you should check out the Hotel Chevalier short on youtube.

D Limited was good but it kinda pales next to andersons other work imo. Royal Tenenbaums is one of the best movies ever made imo.

Just watched The Art of the Steal. The Art of the Steal (2009) - IMDb

Pretty intriguing documentary. It raises some really interesting questions about what the purpose of art is, and how society as a whole treats it.

good call. watched it some time after that post.
And of course Machete is the best film ever made. Who would even argue!

re-watched The Elephant man yesterday. Might watch again today.

I was kinda let down by machete actually. It was good, but .. idk..

Segal was awesome in it though, possibly the best comic death scene ever.

    Indien

I haven't seen for a decade. I though of it again after a close friend of my girlfriend died misteriously in india a couple of weeks ago. I watched it with english subs to see if they are good, and they are. Some things are obviously lost in translation, but if it's any consolation: most germans would need subtitles with that one, too.
I can't think of another movie where comedy and drama work so well together. Easily my favorite austrian movie.

You can get it off piratebay with english subs...
I'll just post the link: Indien (Harather/Hader/Dorfer) 1993 english subs (download torrent) - TPB

I saw Shoot Em Up a few years ago, and I thought it was great!
However, my taste in movies has changed quite a bit since then so who knows...
  36. #411
Shoot Em Up is great if you're digging that kind of movie. People who don't like it forget that it makes fun of itself. With that in mind, it's fun and funny
  37. #412
I watched The Science of Sleep the other day, it was pretty fucking awesome. Same director of Eternal Sunshine of the Spotless Mind, which I just saw for the first time recently as well. Def but salad mindbenders, check em out.

The Lincoln Lawyer is a surprisingly good movie.

In other news, Netflix is apparently going to be available in my country shortly. Golly gee willikers, I guess someone finally found out how to beat piracy: by making shit at decent prices legally available to all! Eureka!

    I guess?

I understand that they used a bunch of recycled clips from begins and DK, but whats up with the straight-from-inception crumbling buildings? Who is that villain? Bane? Is Christian Bale gonna get his back snapped? Any chance we see Robin (honestly... I hope not..)? Is there really any hope that Heath Ledger's Joker performance will be topped?

    So many questions...
  49. #424
Oh, it is Bane, and he's being played by Eames from Inception.. this is pretty cool, I like that guy.
  50. #425
I find irony in how we all look down on people who dress up in capes and LARP with friends, but then our favoritest movies are about a dude in a cape LARPing with baddies

Finally got around to watching the remake of 'Let the Right One In'. Creatively re-titled: Let Me In.
I don't have anything bad about to say it, other than that I don't see the point. I would think it's a great movie if I hadn't seen the original. It's almost a shot-for-shot remake. If you can't handle subtitles, go watch the remake. Otherwise go for the original.

Due Date - A new take on Planes Trains and Automobiles with Rober Downey Jr and Zach Galifianakis. Completely passed me by when it ran in theaters, sadly.
If you haven't seen PT&A - it's really worth watching. John Candy at his best imo.
    Both highly recommended.

I love pt&a and galifinakis. I'll def have to check that out.
  56. #431
Cannot wait to go see Bellflower. Gonna go opening night... haven't done that in forever.
  57. #432
I saw Rubber on netflix streaming this weekend. A car tire goes on a murderous rampage. Stuff happening for no reason at all is pretty much the main idea of the movie.

It's hilarious if you like that sort of thing, but def not for everyone.
  58. #433
has anyoen seen Run Ronnie Run....pretty hilarious gem straight to DVD in 2001....stars david cross and bob odenrik (sp?) (the lawyer from breaking bad)...its awesome
  59. #434
sadly i cant watch cross and odenkirk together. they had like two or three great sketches in mr show, but eveyrthing else bombed
  60. #435
yea ive never seen mr. show, but this movie made me want to check it out

edit- the movie is based off of a sketch from that show

I know this is totally gay but I watched Monsoon Wedding last night and really liked it.

I also saw Sarah's Key, I would recommend that to anyone. Very uniquely done movie with a message you don't see in a lot of movies.

    Hanna - Hanna (2011) - IMDb

It's like Bourne but replace Matt Damon with a 15-year old girl

watch "wufwugy's glass ceiling" before either
  69. #444
Hanna was fucking awful. Nothing much made sense, there was no coherence, characters were introduced for seemingly no reason, there were about ten too many ethnic folk music montages, and even the bits of action were poorly shot/choreographed.

As for the Bourne movies, I'm not really sure where the wuf hate comes from. Bourne movies have all been super solid. Maybe not inspired, but definitely really well put together films with a fairly unique feel. Obviously Equilibrium is awesome, but I'm not sure why the comparison was drawn. It's like, "Instead of wasting your time on Gladiator, watch Pulp Fiction. It's like Gladiator but if you replace Gladiator with a much better movie."

Dangerous Tides. Thats a good movie.

Hugh Jackman was originally cast to play the lead in Drive. I still haven't seen the movie, but, man, would that have sucked or what?

How about Contagion? I'm prob gonna go see it cuz I've felt like going to see a movie for a while. It should be solid, but I feel like all world epidemic movies are the same. They just feel like Discovery or History Channel "what if" type shows but with huge budgets. But nonetheless I always seem to get drawn into these sorts of movies, I've been wanting to go to the movies, and Matt Damon makes my heart flutter.
