okay, no reads on villain.

I'm dealt AK in BB

3 limpers. I raise to 6BB ($6), button calls

Flop comes K76, rainbow.
I put out a $8 bet into a $14 pot. Villain min raises (pot now 38). I raise to $32 and villain calls.

Pot now $78.

My stack is now $55. Villain covers me by about 10 chips.

Turn comes a 3, matches suit with one of the board. I push it all-in.



Analysis:
I'm assuming KK reraises me pre-flop, and in any case it's an unlikely holding given what i've seen. I'm not giving villain credit for a BS 2 pair. 89 is a remote possibility, 66 and 77 is possible. KQ, KJ, 88-JJ is likewise possible.

I've seen this line a few times, and I THINK that I'm ahead here most of the time. Do u agree? and if so, do you push?

I'm not sure if I like the 3-bet on the flop. Unless you think villian could have the straight draw, your either crushed (set) or well ahead (bluff, lower PP or weaker K). As neither hand is that likely to improve over the other, why not take some time to get a feel for what they might hold. You have 2 more streets to extract value from the hands you are ahead of which would probably fold as you play screams AK/AA. It also gives you a chance to get away, or at least limit the damage, from a set/2 pair.

Smooth calling the flop and leading or ck/rsing the turn are the lines I'd normally go for.

I think you are between pushing the flop or pushing the turn(if not folding the turn as a 3 bet on the flop doesn't make too much sense).On the river I think you would have to be up against one tight thinking player who would be able to get away from a hand.I think the only weaker hands you beat right now are any KQs and down,and maybe some overplayed donk A7s/A6s.If villain has KK or 77 I think they may be forced to call either way.

Ummm... yeah looking back at this hand, I'm thinking I smooth call this and lead the turn... man I'm just not sure any more.

I mean you can't be forever scared of a set, which is really the only thing here that beats me. I'm not putting villain on KK cos I got a king and i expect him to show some aggression pre flop.

I'm just gonna read the donk min-raise as not being a set here. So if it's not a set, what I'm trying to do is get money in the pot ASAP.

Three-betting seems to be a little bit strong to me... but calling and checking could give 2 free cards if villain checks the turn - and I also can't make that big of a river bet and open myself to a river bluff raise. I mean it *could* be a straight draw trying to buy a free card.

Basically, the question boils down to this... if I'm assuming MHIG (villain has KQ, KJ, 2nd or 3rd pair, straight draw, QQ-88) then what can I do to maximize the chips that are going into the pot? If I flat call and lead the turn I could spook him if a scare card lands on the turn...

so, the possibilities:

1. as played. 3 bet the flop and push the turn
2. push the flop
3. flat call. check the turn and push/fold if bet into
4. flat call. lead the turn

If hes an aggressive player that likes to take action away form you then ck-raising the turn will get the most value from a bluff. It might scare off weaker hands but that was the problem with 3 betting the flop annd this way you have extracted an extra bet. If noticed, this play has the added benefit of sometimes giving you a free card in future hands OOP when your c-bet is called. It also shows a lot more strength than the usual c-bet, if they push back it will almost always be a monster.

If it goes check-check on the turn they are much more likley to have a marginal hand, I'll usually fire a pot+ sized bet on the river making it look like a resteal. You would be suprised how many times you get called with 2nd pair if you check the turn.
