Default 1/2 6 high flush with action

Private 1/2NL game. Generally plays pretty loose but tonight the line up is more solid than usual but still a good game to have a seat in.

UTG+1: Unknown. First time I've played with him since coming to this game but has played relatively tight for the first 4 or so hours.

UTG+2: Solid-"er" reg who plays on the tighter side pre-flop but ramps it up post and is capable of thin plays.

SB: Tight Passive. Generally TP is the bottom of his betting range. Have seen him check back AQ on a QQxxx board.

    UTG+1:$142---limps
    UTG+2:$183---limps
    SB: $200----completes
Hero (BB) covers table----checks option with

    Flop: Pot: $8

    SB leads for $10
    Hero calls
    UTG+1 calls
    UTG+2 raises to $40

    SB calls
    Hero calls
    UTG+1 calls

    Turn: Pot: $168

    SB checks
    Hero checks
    UTG+1 jams for $100
UTG+2 tanks and jams for $141
    SB folds

    Hero? Pot: $409

Thoughts on each action post flop?

i'd raise first flop bet, jam second, call now. too many combo draws/two pair hands out to fold ever

I think raise > call 95% of the time on the first bet OTF, unless you have a solid read that one of the villains left to act is going to raise.

If you called to induce a squeeze from one of the Villains, then it's a clear jam on the 2nd bet OTF.

I contemplated folding with the reasoning I'm either slightly ahead or WAY the fuck behind, but couldn't find a fold for the reasons you stated and decided to let variance take the reigns.

Being -$1600 in the 3 sessions leading up to this due quite a few disgusting case card spots (generally >200bb's deep) recently has me wanting to take lower variance routes and getting it in on non diamond/non pair turns.

My brain was telling me to get the money in on the flop, but my vagina was telling me different.

The A hitting the river made me sick to my stomach. UTG+1 flips black Aces and UTG+2 flips black Kings.

I've only been playing again since October and it's still a battle to get back in the habit of making my hands do what my brain tells them to do with disregard to past sessions.

I personally would raise pre-flop. Maybe to about 2.5x the original bet. Just to protect your low flush against a 4th diamond falling

Sam, you mean flop, not pre-flop. Check out some threads in the BC

Haha yes, sorry. I meant raising after the flop to protect your low flush.

I'd also like to reiterate that I was NOT suggesting raising pre-flop with 64. Haha, thanks Pascal.

The decision point here is figuring out where you're at when he makes it $40.
I kinda still like your hand then and I would go with it.

If I see the turn, no fucking way I'm folding for pot or less.

Curious if not a fan of the general concept of protecting one's hand or not a fan of it in this particular hand. And why?

It's often counter-productive to "protect your hand" against someone with a lot of equity in the pot. You also run the risk of over-playing your hand against the top of your opponent's range.

A more productive way to think about these spots:

What is your range of hands with the line your representing? Is your opponent aware enough for it to matter?
What range of hands does your opponent have? What is he continuing with?
What's going to cause him to put the most money in with the worst hands or get him off a better hand?

...or rather what bet sizing is going to make the most money?

That's a lot more important than figuring out some mythical sum of money that makes it "incorrect" for a flush/straight/whatever draw to call.

dont really like how you played up until the decision point but can't really see folding this now unless im up against some rocks
