    Default My Big Leak

I get a read on a player, and get into a pot. I think I'm beaten and still call their big raise (regardless of odds) so that I can see their hand.

    Its quite frustrating and costly.

Obviously I should break myself of this habit, but then I'm opening myself up to bluffing. I'm playing micro-stakes so should I just go with my read and accept that they're not bluffing.

Welcome. I do the same thing (less now). Slap yourself in the face each time you do, then figure out when it is you "knew" you were beat and why, then stop doing it. Easier said than done!

What limits are you playing? At 10nl and below, they're bluffing next-to-never. My biggest leak at 10nl was having AK preflop and then not being able to ditch it postflop. Your hand can go bad when the flop comes, and you need to get used to folding even top pair when the board just kills your hand.

But at least you realize it - nice work. Welcome to FTR. Post some HH's as soon as you can to get feedback. Check spoonitnow's "posting HH" sticky here in this forum for suggestions on what type of reads/info to post, and you'll get awesome feedback from the mods and regs.

Sounds very familiar to me. Most of us are naturally curious and we also don't like being fooled. So folding to a big bet is hard, because it seems like the villain is trying to fool you into folding and if you don't call you will never know if it was a bluff or not. But calling too many big bets hoping they are bluffs is a big leak. I think most people have to learn that the hard way.

Just remember that making a big fold is a great accomplishment too. Don't try to prove the hand, try to figure it out. Every hand is a puzzle and there is a correct decision to be made for all the hands you are delt. A majority of poker is folding so might as well get great at it! GLGLGLGLGL

You will never play poker and make it to any stakes of significance by never folding the best hand. It is far cheaper long term to fold a couple best hands than make the calls you are making with second best hand.

Being a calling station is like going out for fun. It's enjoyable but will definitely cost you. I admit to "going out for fun" way too much too.

Do yourself a favor and read this article I pasted into this thread sometime ago.
    http://www.flopturnriver.com/phpBB2/...rs-t84683.html
"You start the game with a full pot o’ luck and an empty pot o’ experience...
The object is to fill the pot of experience before you empty the pot of luck."

This might actually be your biggest leak.

L2Fold. Sometimes you get out-played that's how it is.
