Default Operation "Build a Bankroll" - COMPLETE

Rejuvenated and refreshed after a month’s holiday playing no Poker in October/November, I started to look more closely at my Poker career which started in June last year. I played and dabbled in everything, mostly SNG’s, the occasional MTT and most frustratingly cash games. I lost money on Full Tilt and Titan and made money on Pokerstars. Anyway, after several months of confusion I decided to stick to the game I enjoy most (6-max NL) and decided to start Operation “Build a bankroll”.

As it happened I had almost exactly $500 in my Neteller account at the beginning of December. I put $200 into UB (without RB – I’m a dummy) and $200 into Doyles Room (with RB). After playing just a little bit I have now $230 at UB and $240 at Doyles. I cashed out $39 in Rakeback money into Full Tilt where I played a bit of $10NL to make it into $45. I then put $100 into Pokerstars to clear their reload bonus. I played $10NL 6-max and the occasional $4+0.4 180 SNG’s where I final tabled two out of two and finished 5th in both. I just cashed out $280 from Stars and $45 from Full Tilt giving me a total of $325 in Neteller and $470 combined at UB and Doyles.

Currently I am trying to withdraw $175 from UB without loosing the sign-up bonus (haven’t heard back from UB support yet but I remember reading that this shouldn’t be a problem) to be able to deposit $500 at Empire Poker to clear their 20% up to $100 sign-up bonus playing $25NL 6-max.

The aim is to have $1000 by the end of February and to have at least $1500 by the end of June to be rolled for $50NL.

I will try to make regular posts to keep those guys who are interested updated with my bonuswhoring career. If any of you know of any great bonuses or think that I will get a bad deal out of some bonus codes then please PM me or just reply in this thread.

One thing I do is have one email address for my sign ups at poker sites where I receive all they're emails and reload bonuses alerts. I check it regularly so I dont missout on anything. Other then that, good luck; looking forward to see where this goes.

I have been going quite well. A few things I have learned so far I believe, made me a better poker player

a) Position. I kind of thought about it but I never really followed it through until now. I have removed some hands from my raising hands UTG but have increased the number of raising hands on the CO or button.

b) Put you opp on hands. A skill I try to aquire. I used to make decision hastily. Now I often use my time bank to think before I make a big decision.

c) Two pairs made of rags are still rags. Often I see myself flopping two pair with rags in unraised pots in the blinds i.e. J4o on a J4Q board just to be outdrawn. The pots become too large and more often than not I came out second best.

d) I pay attention to the betting patterns of my opposition. Often regulars follow through patterns which I pick up and use to my advantage. I often lost big pots to regular players just because I thought that they are playing back at me. More often than not they weren't.

Here are my current stats and graph. It would look a little bit better wouldn't I have lost two BIG pots with AA on Doyles. I have enclosed the HH below.

This one against a crazy maniac fish. One of the kind who you buddy list and follow around.

I put $500 into Empire to clear their bonus. Had my first session there playing $25NL SH for about 600 hands. Down $35 mainly due to never hitting the board at all and then loosing a stack when I flopped a Qhigh flush and it went all in against a set on the flop and of course the river paired the board. I was playing not too bad though. I think a few months ago I would have lost far more but I've made some tough laydowns when I knew I was beat.

I will clear the $100 bonus on Empire hopefully soon and of course I want to make some money playing poker as well. I like to play the occasional MTT wilst grinding on the cash tables but new tourney structures always take some getting used to so I'm not hoping for much there.

BR still at about $760 so up +$260 since December. I can't complain.

Jut finished a great little session 2-tabling $25NL SH on Empire. Played a little bit under an hour for +2x buy-ins despite getting destacked early on. I only played about 200 hands but I stopped because I feel I'm getting impatient as I'm hungry and need a shower. I think a lession learnt is that I shouldn't play when my mind is not at least 80% on it. I still play with the TV on but as soon as I'm interested more in the programme than on the tables I start loosing. Little edges over the long run matter!

Sounds like you're having a good start. Keep up the good work. You'll be at 50nl in no time.

Thanks for the encouraging words.

I cleared the $100 Empire bonus yesterday. Unfortunately I couldn't make any money playing poker as I had a flopped flush and a flopped straight cracked yesterday. Continued the session cautiously and came back to win most of it back.

Current BR is at $920 which is up $420 since December. Feeling good about my play knowing that I am at worst a break-even player. So with all the bonuses, there is still some money to be made.

I'll take $600 to Pokerroom to clear their 30% at 5x bonus this week. Originally I wanted to have $1000 by the end of February but I believe that $1000 by the end of the week is clearly achievable.

I think one of my biggest disadvantages is that I live in NZ and due to our time zone game selection can be tough. If I start early (early evening NZ time) I catch the late night US players. Otherwise I seem to playing against well rested Europeans.

Why does the deposit on PokerRoom not work and why is their live chat disabled and why do they not reply to my e-mails? Strange. Had $660 together to get the maximum of the 5x 30% to $100 bonus there and now it doesn't work. Their server was down as well today so who the hell knows whats going on there.

Luckily I have some money left on Doyles Room and it didn't let me down. A couple of brutal suckouts where weighed up against juicy pots with the nuts against total fish. Altogether was up about +$40 in 800 hands at their $20NL SH tables.

BR is currently at $979 at the moment which is nearly double of the $500 I started with in December. It would be more than 1k but I tried to qualify for the first time for a big Sunday evening tourney as its a Public Holiday today in New Zealand and I would have time to play them for once. Long story short I tried to qualify for the UB tourney but after final tabelling about 3 out of 6 satellites without any return I gave up.

I'm currently trying to clear the bonus on Pokerroom but I don't like their software. Its easy to click the wrong button and the waiting time for decisions is like 5 seconds. I cannot play more than 2 tables at once without sitting out at least at one table. Its a mess. At least the players are often substandard and I can win some big pots. But that means also that I loose some pots. However, since really concentrating on my cash game career it seems that I loose a few small pots which are offset by winning one large one.

I have also started to incorporate some moves into my arsenal when I sense weakness. I love when those come off and although the pots are not huge they will add to my BB/hour significantly. I will still only try to take small steps and I hope that by the time I'm finished with Pokerroom that I can take a stab at $50NL SH.

Here are some fun hands and some bad ones:

Hand 1:
Was not quite sure what I did here. I was confused and I would have thought a little bit more if Pokerrom wouldn't give a warning signal within 5 seconds or so. I also should have potted the turn.

Its hot in NZ at the moment and the Tri-series of Cricket in Australia is hotting up. Also the Super 14 Rugby season has started and my cricket team (incl me) is playing like shite. So many distractions made me play hardly any Poker. But at least I managed to complete 20k hands since December which on my puny little 14" screen two-tabling is not too bad. BR is now over $1000 and when I clear the $200 bonus and continue to make a little bit of money playing Poker then I will move up to $50NL. I believe that my play is good enough and I only need the BR to support it now.

I think its because of variance like this that I need to follow proper bankroll management.

I had a great little session last night. As Pokerroom is quite resource intensive I can only play 2 tables at once. So it takes quite a long time to play 1k hands but I ran gooooood at +$135 at 25BB/100.

Unfortunately the HH converter is broken so I cannot post some, what I thought, really interesting hands. For fun I wanted to post a hand were my rivered set of Aces got cracked by a Royal Flush. Money went all in preflop and funnily that dude was severely shortstacked and it didn't cost me much. Sorry for the HH.

Thanks for the wishes. I named myself 'austriaco' because I am originally from Austria (Linz) but have been living in New Zealand for nearly 10 years now. It came from a funny conversation with a spanish dude where I didn't know what Austrian in Spanish was.

Running well at the moment. I still wish I could play more than two tables but at least I get paid on my good cards. If I have one regret then it is that I farted around for months trying to find my niche. If I would have just started to build a bankroll earlier

I think that having this little blog helps me to concentrate and to play at least a few hands even when its hot and humid outside. I have changed my goal to build a $1500 BR by the end of February and then to move up to $50NL.

I would also like to take this opportunity to thank every poster on this forum who is willing to share their knowledge, wisdom and wit.

Played some SNG's for fun last night, and boy, am I glad I gave those up. I couldn't believe that people are willing to gamble for their stacks on the bubble with QTs when I push from the SB? What happened to your calling hand has to be much stronger than your pushing hand? Anyway, I only managed to finish 2nd in two out of 7 I played.

Maybe I was lucky or its just stats101 but it took me nearly 25k hands until I ran into my first set over set situation. If this hand would have incurred 30 minutes later I would have even seen a fold on the turn here as opp was the most tightest/passive player on Pokerroom I have encountered so far. Still BR creeping up nicely to $1300 (+$200 bonus still to come).

Thanks for the words man. I have been following your progress as well.

I'm still quite conservative with BR management and most likely will play $25NL 6-max until I hit my 30x buy-ins rule. Effectively I would be already at $1500 but I want to change my game at little bit first before moving up.

The two things I would like to implement are

1) don't c/bet every flop even when I hit. I think I am not getting paid off on my good hands often enough and thus also bluff too often,

2) I also believe that I can be bluffed too easily of hands which have showdown value.

In the meantime Pokerroom is not as nice as it was last week. I had two boat over boat (both at the river) today and donkeys are beating me in pots with weird holdings.

But as I had such a good run last week I can't complain.

I have implemented some of the things I talked about in my last blog entry but they are pretty meaningless when you sit at the wrong tables.

Last night I had almost every table on Pokeroom full of TAGG's and we were pretty much waiting for a fish to arrive. It was like taking turns but during the coming and going it was pretty boring. I believe that most of us regulars tried moves on each other just to stay interested. I even managed to loose a stack with KK in a re/reraised pot (preflop) against J4o against one of the fish. I just couldn't put him on those two cards

It was a slightly positive session but another lesson learnt is that I just cannot purely follow a gameplan without knowing the texture and makeup of the table first. Sometimes its OK to c/bet 100% of the flops when I was the original raiser and sometimes its not.

I will add a table of $50NL in my next session to see how I'm doing. Trainer_yms seems to be doing quite well there with a tight approach so I will be trying the same.

Wow! I'm not quite sure if Pokerroom found out that I'm gonna withdraw when the bonus clears but I'm in a never seen before 7x buy-in downswing. And the worst thing is that I think that I play well. I had an astonishing 4 sets over sets in the last 1000 hands. Flopped flushes end up loosing to boats. Straights loose to rivered flushes. I am not on tilt yet but I'm in a situation I have never been before. I hope it ends soon as Poker is not much fun at the moment.

Thanks for the words man. Its hard but I will keep on grinding. I am still running at close to 5BB/100 so I can't be too upset. I only need another 100 points at Pokerrom to clear the $200 bonus and then I will clear the $100 bonuses (boni?) at Hollywood and Eurobet.

I'm pretty sure that ongame has read what I wrote to you about us two being too lucky to have sets over sets... They have been on my neck as well. Hopefully we will ride a 20+buy-in up-swing together soon

Just a funny add on. I was invited to play with 524 others on Titan to participate in a $2k Freeroll. It started NZ time Monday 7am and I could play for about 1 hr before I had to go to work. I made some loose plays and variance was high but I had a just above average stack when I signed off with about 180 players still left. I came home from work and couldn't believe my eyes that I won $40! :P

It took me less than a month and approx 10k hands of two-tabling $25NL and a little bit of $50NL on Pokerroom to clear their $200 bonus. I have read some horror stories that they take ages to release it but for me it was available as soon as I hit the required points. Overall Pokerroom was ok and I ran most of the time over 10bb/100. But some bad beats combined with some atrocious play by yours truly and it was back to 5.7BB/100.

I have cashed out immediately and have opened up an account on Golden Riviera to clear a quick and easy $50 bonus and will then move part of my BR to Eurobet where I want to clear $100 + Rakeback. I also hope to get a Party reload offer this time.

My BR is $1376 at the moment and I will take the plunge into $50NL. Wish me luck and I don't hope it continues as per below little story.

I still have some money on Doyles and while the money clears from Pokerroom I will play a bit there. I played well last night until I this hand came up. Usually I raise here more pre-flop but I didn't work the slider properly. I was ready to be de-stacked by slowplayed AA, 88 or 44. I just didn't put him on A8. Maybe that was spewy play but I have often seen grossly misplayed AK in this situation and I didn't want to just call and see an A on the turn. I took me a while to come down after this hand and I was fuming.

It’s now almost exactly 2 months since I really started to take playing Poker seriously and started to build a bankroll. I think I have learnt an awful lot and perhaps the most important thing I did learn was to stay focused and try no to tilt. I used to play SNG’s and MTT’s and when I crashed out I went to cash games, played full ring or shorthanded and as soon as I lost a stack I went back to SNG’s and so forth. I never became good at anything and was at best stagnating. Now if I loose a big pot I think about it, analyze why I lost and try to learn from it.

I still can hardly believe that by the beginning of this year I was still at $10NL and now play $50NL quite comfortably. My BR is over $1500 which means that I added approx $500/month so far. My longterm goal now is to play $200NL 6-max by the end of the year and hopefully be able to buy a proper laptop + 19” LCD monitor so I can play more than 2 tables at once. I think that I can handle 4x 6-max tables as long as I can see them all on the screen without overlap. That’s why I liked Pokerstars so much because I could play 2 cash tables plus 1 MTT table (with PT & PAHUD running) without slowing my laptop down to a crawl. Resizable tables are a godsend for people with archaic equipment.

I finished the $50 bonus on Golden Riviera in less than 1k hands and I got the bonus credited to my account within 10 hours of sending them an e-mail (as instructed). I am not particularly fond of the Prima design but at least it’s very fast and it’s quite common to sit at tables playing +100 hands/hour. However, I have experienced a new type of player – the aggressive Swede (little wannabee Cocco Bill’s). Table selection was very important on Prima as often I found myself being the LAG with 21/12 whilst my opponents were often as low as 11% VPIP. I have never lost a stack on Prima but I lost a few medium/small ones. All in all I made about a whopping $27 in 1k hands but also cleared the bonus so I’m happy.

Currently I am playing $50NL 6-max at Eurobet where I clear a $200 bonus plus Rakeback. Playing on the Ongame network can be both rewarding and frustrating. Last night I played 200 hands for +$90. If a turned boat wouldn’t have been beaten by a higher rivered boat I would have been $130 but you can’t win them all. I also meant to post some hands but I play just straightforward poker that I might have to delve a little bit deeper to find some interesting hands.

What a shitty, horrible, frustrating session. I didn't hit a flop and when I hit they folded. Otherwise I have been floated and called down with Ahigh firing 3 barrels. Aaargh! Poker doesn't make fun at all. I didn't get de-stacked once and I "only" lost 1.5 buy-ins but for that I never had a decent draw or overpair or whatever. I was so sparse with good hands that I couldn't even realise when I was beat like voila:

PokerRoom No-Limit Hold'em, $1 BB (5 handed) Hand History Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com (Format: FlopTurnRiver)

BB ($23.30)
UTG ($46.55)
Hero ($64.65)
Button ($36.70)
SB ($35.35)

Preflop: Hero is MP with K, K.
1 fold, Hero raises to $2, 2 folds, BB calls $1.50.

Flop: ($4.25) 9, T, J (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $3, BB calls $3.

Turn: ($10.25) 7 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $5, BB raises to $10, Hero calls $5.

River: ($30.25) 5 (2 players)
BB bets $8.3 (All-In), Hero calls $8.30.

Final Pot: $46.85

Results in white below:
BB has Qh 8d (straight, queen high).
Hero has Ks Kc (one pair, kings).
Outcome: BB wins $46.85.

Or when I had a good hand i had flops like that:

And I would have posted a few more hands but the Converter is broken again.
29. #29
I am dropping down to $25NL for 1 table as my confidence is shot. Went to showdown is as low as 21% and Won$ at showdown as low as 41%. I have lost another buy-in just raising good hands preflop but never hitting the flop at all. Makes no fun at all when the best hand you hit is TPTK and you get pushed off the hand on scary boards. Or your TT gets beaten by J4o and other shit. The amount of pots I'm winning is far too small and although I think I play well and aggressive its not working.

So my career for $50NL at Eurobet is at -$75 for -7.5BB/100 at the moment.

Come on man stay focused, shit happens!!!

at $1500 take a stab at 50NL but if you lose a few buyins DONT drop down. drop when you hit $1000 BR, at least give i a good shot instead of taking little stabs hoping to jump up a few buyins before you settle.

Thanks for the pick up man. I need it.

My BR is still a little bit over $1500 thanks to some SNG plays during breakfast but I just can't win a hand at 6-max the moment. I can't remember the last time I have shown a winning hand after the river. When I raise TT for sure a J will be on the flop and the opp has a J4 or something like it. Shortstack limps in SB I raise with AKs he pushes I call. 44 holds up. I raise AKs or AQs on the button, nothing hits I c/bet, two-barrell whatever, some weird hand beats me. And that on tables with people of +40% VPIP. Those guys can't play poker but they take turns in taking small pots from me.

And here is my biggest issue. I loose heaps of small pots but I can't win any big ones. Even with a shitty image as I surely must have they don't pay me off if I hit. I rather get de-stacked on a missed monster draw or set over set or flushes being beaten by boats. But that weak small ball stuff pisses me off.

Sorry about the rant. Will take a couple of days break from poker. I'm better than that, I just need to get my mana back.

Please ReREAD what you wrote there, recognise its just a vent of frustration and NOT true or based on anything!!!!!! also perhaps tone down the aggression, tighten up ALOT (SQUEAKY TIGHT), take less chances to tone down variance in your game. obv these little general advise dont really help i know but meh....
Jman: every time the action is to you, it's an opportunity for you to make the perfect play.

Whenever I run bad or feel shaken, I drop to 15/9 or less. Stop playing anything but good hands, up your opening raises to 5BB or 6BB and C-bet every flop you rasied pre. Stop trying to beat them and just get good hands and take the money. It's always that simple when your winning, but when your losing, not so much.
34. #34
Thanks for your replies. My advise would have been the same to other posters but when I'm playing I sometimes can't the solution myself. That's why I found this little blog helpful.

Looking through PT's session stats it shows that I played 24/12 which was way too high even on the 5-handed tables on the Ongame network.

As I didn't get any reload bonus offer ever from Party I decided to send them an e-mail and they replied and confirmed that they will give me a 20% up $100 bonus which I have to clear in 30 days at 5x raked hands. Beautiful! I might just play $25NL 6-max to clear that bonus in no time.

What a difference a few days make. The break was very important to me. I watched a few instructional videos, thought about my game instead of playing and getting hungry to play it again. I'm raising, re-raising and folding a lot more than before and the stats are looking good for March at the moment: +310 at 14.35BB/100.

Of course a little bit of luck is needed as those hands shows.

There is one thing I always find hard to get through and those are the (natural) swings you get through when playing 6-max. Sometimes you can do no wrong and sometimes you just can't hit a thing. Don't get me wrong, I'm not loosing a lot when I'm loosing but the sheer fact that i can only play 2 tables seems to make the whole thing a little bit more frustrating.

It has been a long time since I had a loosing session of more than 4x buy-ins but I believe that I am loosing value by not being able to play more than 2 tables. Call me arrogant. Call me too confident. But I believe that I could be at $100NL in no time if I could cut down variance and play at least 4 tables.

But then I'm still happy with where I am. I think that I did well by increasing my BR from $500 to $1600 in less than 3 months but somehow I feel short changed.

One thing I have noticed is how I can put other people on hands and how I can make big lay downs. That used to be my biggest problem, not knowing when I'm beat, but now I can put them on ranges, being able to re-raise them out of pots with semi-bluffs when I know I''m ahead.

So in this case I want to thank the posters on FTR again. Your input is greatly appreciated.

March has been a very interesting month so far and it has been "literally" a learning curve. I started well, LAGGing it up a bit as I thought that I didn't get paid off enough with my good hands. I ran well until I started to develop FPS (fancy play syndrome). As my post above said, I played way too much OOP and I cold called far too much. There is a huge difference between playing 22/10 and 22/16. BR is at $2000 now. The bonus on Eurobet is 2/3 cleared and I also cleared the $100 complimentary bonus on Party. Looking ahead into the future I might take my BR to Bodog for a while and then to Hollywood Poker.

Right now I am sitting to the left of a maniac betting maching and to the right of a calling station. Somehow I lost 2.5x buy-ins. That's what I call variance. Getting your money in with the best hand and getting sucked out bad. Unfortunately the calling station gets my stacks and the maniac gets the calling stations stacks. It's fun but not going my way at all.
41. #41
Wow! Managed to get back to "only" 1.5 buy-ins lost. I was playing at 30/10 and the second lowest VPIP was 60. The highest was at 90/60. That was by far the weirdest session/table I ever had. Just a little sorry that I couldn't hit that hand to stack someone.

Bonuswhoring is a very important aspect of building a roll. There are numerous amounts of sites out there with generous bonuses but the most important thing is in the small print. Yes, sites like UB, Titan & FT have big sign-up bonuses but what is most important to the micro stakes NL grinder is to find out at what rate the bonus is clearing and if there is an expiry date. Also an important thing is if the payout is in increments or as a lump sum. Additionally it pays to find out if Rakeback is available on this site and if yes, if rake is deducted from the bonus.

When I started to play Poker last year I signed up on many sites without thinking about sign-up bonuses or rakeback. I only saw “100% up to $600” and I thought how sweet those sites are for being so generous. Needless to say that some of the offers were ridiculously hard to clear at micro limits thus bonuses have lapsed without clearing.

Since starting this operation I have cleared bonuses on PokerStars (reload), Empire (sign-up), Party (complimentary), Golden Riviera (sign-up), Pokerroom (sign-up) and am currently playing on Eurobet.

A small mistake here I made was that Eurobet only rewards points towards contributed rake which is different to the points structure on Pokerroom despite both of them being on the same network. Despite having played more hands there than on PR the points needed to clear the bonus are much harder to accumulate. At least I get rakeback there.

I have about 3 weeks left to clear the bonus on Eurobet which is paid out as a lump sum. I will sign up for an account on Interpoker to take advantage of the 40% special rakeback in March and the $125 sign-up bonus (which is not deducted from the rake). In April I will then move to Red Kings which is an Ongame site with a juicy $250 (7x) bonus where points are rewarded for rake paid.

Whoring for bonuses is +ev and I would recommend this to every micro stakes grinder out there.

March has been going well so far. Wouldn't it have been for some brutal beats on Eurobet it would be better. But then I take the donks on the Ongame network everyday when they call 3-bets with Q2o or 64o. It least they make me laugh.

I have had too much money on too many websites so I decided to withdraw from every site except Eurobet, where I need another 1500 hands to clear their sign-up bonus, and Interpoker.

Interpoker has been very good to me so far as you can see.

The players there are really tight/weak which suits my LAG style a lot. I have been raising far more hands in position as usual as this hand shows.

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q, 9.
[color:#666666]2 folds, CO calls, [color:#CC3333]Hero raises, [color:#666666]1 folds, BB calls, CO calls.

Flop: (19.00 SB) 9, 3, 6 [color:#0000FF](3 players)
BB checks, [color:#CC3333]CO bets, Hero calls, BB folds.

Turn: (21.50 BB) 9 [color:#0000FF](2 players)
[color:#CC3333]CO bets, Hero calls.

River: (41.50 BB) A [color:#0000FF](2 players)
[color:#CC3333]CO bets, [color:#CC3333]Hero raises, CO calls.

Final Pot: 107.50 BB.

Well BR is at $2500 now and I think that I might be properly rolled for $100NL earlier than expected. Cool!
44. #44
Not quite sure what I'm doing wrong but my image from my operation is not showing?

Anyway, BR stagnating a little bit at $2500. But then I have been running hot over the last couple of weeks. Donked away a couple of buy-ins win a little bit back and so on. Haven't been hitting boards at all as well.

Bonus on Eurobet will be cleared soon but then I might just give it a rest as I have until 11th March. Will be playing more on Interpoker to take advantage of the special 40% RB in March. Also I can 3-table there without problems plus run PT&PAHUD.

I will definetely take a shot at $100NL as soon as I reach $3k.
45. #45
Have been 3-tabling on Interpoker last night and lost about $40 but I became more and more frustrated with raises getting called and c/bets floated or mini-raised.

I was not frustrated with Poker but with the game I was playing. At the moment I have the strong desire to play some donkaments. Not because of the more exiting game play, because its not, but more because of having a decent payout if you win and a change in scenery. So I think I will put some money on Pokerstars and 3-table the $20+2/180 tourneys tonight and see if I enjoy them. Also I remember doing quite well on Bodog's MTT structure and as I have RB there anyway I might put some $ there too.

I need a break from the grind of cash tables and bonuswhoring.

hey your doing alrite.

COuld yougive me a quick pros and cons of interpoker. i just signed up but havent deposited as yet. Ive learned from past mistake to browse the site beforehand.

I like Interpoker. The bonuses and rackback are fantastic but that of course attracts lots of tight bonuswhores(Players to the flop of below 30% is the norm at 6-max). You need to open your game a bit to make some mullah. The gameplay is slower than I have experienced as the timer gives the players a long time. Gameselection can be difficult outside European peak times. My laptop is really slow but I can play 3-tables there with PT & PAHUD without slowing the machine down to a standstill. I think just for the easy to clear bonuses and 40% rakeback in March (32% standard) its a great site to have at least as your 2nd home.

Played some MTT's last night. Since when has it become fashion to call re-raises with crap?? AKs is a good re-steal hand but I expect to be called by TT+ but not QJo or T5o. Ah well. Played a $20+2 SNG on Bodog for fun which I duly won. I have a fantastic 50% ROI over 30 SNG's on Bodog. Unfortunately they are sooo boring.

I have been playing nitty break-even poker since my little 6 buy-in downswing. Its not much fun grinding out a session for no profit. The first half of March was fantastic were I ran over 12BB/100 and now March is at a measly 3BB/100. At least I am still making a profit + rakeback and bonuses so I can't complain too much.

However, I think that my shot at $100NL is still at least 2-3 weeks away. I have been playing the GBP50NL (which is close to $100) on Crypto a bit and those games are way looser than the USD ones. I'm break-even there as well but psychologically it's a smaller step up for me thus making it easier for me to adapt.

Dude I broke even for the first half of the month and am running about -12ptbb/100 for the second half. Have we played each other at Crypto, or are we on at wildly different times? I'm Zerbombt or SRSLY and I play 6max £50 mostly.

We only have been playing against each other once. You had position and me and always stayed away when I raised as far as i know. Unfortunately that table was way tight and I was already down half a buy-in so I left. I'm austriaco on Crpyto and usually play between 6am-11am GMT (evening in NZ) 6-max exclusively.

A winning session turned into a small loosing session. I was playing very nitty but very aggressive. Because the confidence is shot I feel better playing 16/14 than 21/14 as usual. Need to get the groove back.

I have only just started to push good draws OOP. Was I too aggressive here? I think I played it fine.

Me moving up while running like shit? I don't even think that I play bad Poker but I can't hit a set for the love of god, my draws are empty and I'm on the wrong side of coinflips. Variance sucks when it stares you in the face.

March - what a r0llercoaster of emotions:
56. #56
Just some random question.

a) what does a set look like?
b) where have all the Aces and Kings gone when I 3-bet preflop with AK?
c) why is that when I have more than 10 outs the chances that they hit on the river is +22% for everyone else but for me it's 0%?
d) where have my balls gone?
e) since when is having less than 6 outs reason enough to call a push and then hit them?
f) will a break do me good?

Ok, March was not exactly the best of months as I experienced my first ever downswing. But nonetheless I still made $500 which is mostly due to Bonuses and RB.

I have just cleared the Eurobet bonus and am nearly finished with the Interpoker bonus. I deposited $300 on Towergaming Poker to take advantage of the 5x sign-up $200max bonus which should be pretty easy to clear. Also Hollywood apparently will offer some 5x bonuses soon so that site will be next.

My BR is approx $2100 so I want to make enough from poker and bonuses this month to become a $100NL regular by the end of it. But first I would like to re-discover my aggression as the downswing turned me into a 18/10/2 pansy.

Good luck! Aggresion is the way to do it, I've been running shit too, 25 pairs and only 1 set, 15 flush draws on flop and 2 hit, KK cracked 4 times, AA folded to me in the BB half of the time, nothing you can do about it but keep playing and soon you will be back on track!

Hand 3: Flat calling AA/KK is the new sexy apparently. River block bet is fine because you showed down at your price.

Playing break-even poker at the moment (thanks to some big pots lost at $100NL) but I think that my game is getting better again. When I stack off it’s either because of a well disguised hand, miracle suck-out or I immediately know where I have gone wrong. It’s the level of awareness that is coming back. Also what loosing at $100NL taught me was that I need to play more aggressive. I am not up for $100NL mentally yet as I do not play with the level of aggression a winning player must display. However, at $50NL I hardly make mistakes, play with a high level of aggression (approx 19/14/4) and am winning again.

I also finished the Interpoker bonus plus 1x reload. I only made about $100 through Poker there. The game selection is just not good enough at the times when I play plus the majority of the players there are nits. The Towergaming bonus is halfway there and I think that I need a break from the Ongame network. As soon as the Interpoker money hits Neteller I will open an account with Ladbrokes as they seem to have a juicy 50Euro bankroll booster going on plus 100Euro bonus at 5x raked hands. I also put $500 on Bodog as they gave me a 10% reload bonus which is easy to clear plus I have Rakeback there. I just have to decide whether to play ring (have heard that the Handgrabber thing is pretty useless though) or play some SNG’s which are pretty soft there.

Crushing the $50NL again but still playing a bit weak/tight at $100NL. Here is a hand where I would call 99% of the time but somehow my scared instincts have taken over. I was so angry after I folded this even before I saw the result.

In the first hand, BB obviously has a FD. So calling the turn is a bad idea since you can force him out and trap more money in the pot. What does SB have? Could be a set, or a draw, though i doubt it would be TP. His line is strange so i would probably just raise the turn and force BB to lay his hand down.

Congrats on a nice pot on hand 2! I like how you lead the flop strong, knowing K-x hands will at least call a big flop bet, and K-10/K-Q+ are probably going to raise. The shove is ok, but i personally like bet/call c/r turn better. IMO the only hands that call a flop shove are A-K/K-10/10-10/K-K/ big draws.

Your hand looks more like a draw to them if you just call on the flop and many one pair hands in that spot will fire hard at the turn, which make up a large portion of his range. You can pot commit them by making them put more money in on the turn, which i bet they would do at least half of the time.

I have been starting to buy in full at $100NL. Been running OK and most big loses came from when I put my money in with the best hand but came out second best after the river. This month I am only slightly up due to some good results at $50NL.

I remember with each level I moved up it always took some time until I got comfortable. This morning I got all my money in with my QQ against someone who I thought was on a flush draw. He was on an OESD and hit it on the river. 8 outs after the turn were enough for him to push. I felt sick for a couple of hours thinking OMG! $100 could have bought me such and such. But then it gives me confidence that I thought the same thing when I was playing $10NL, $25NL and $50NL.

Btw, the Ladbrokes Bankroll Booster Promotion is simply the easiest way to earn $50 ever.

I have hardly been playing. Only got in 1k hands but +$340 at 17.5BB/100 at $100NL. Here some hands with comments:

Hand 1:
I believe that I played my good hands a little bit too fast. I was more interested in stacking opponents instead of value betting. Usually I would have bet more on each street but he only just sat down and had no reads.

Hand 2:
Against 2 donkeys. I was 70% sure that button would raise as UTG was also an aggro donkey. Button has been playing back at UTG a LOT and I was hoping for a re-raise. Afterwards I thought that I should have raised but initially I went with my read

hand 1:
stats on villain would be nice. I have to think you won this hand because it looks like villain was just begging to see a showdown w/ AQ or AJ, maybe KQ.

hand 2:
I would bet the flop because you have no reason to think you dont have the best hand. For gods sake atleast bet the turn. And why the flat call on the river? Im pushing over his raise 100% of the time. Youre losing to exactly 2 hands and neither are likely here. Villain just hit his Ax and doesnt believe you. Get as much money out of him as you can, especially since he has been playing back at you guys.

hand 3:
lead out the flop w/ sets as much as you can. W/ the scare card on the turn, i might slow down, but villain looks like he has a K way as much as a flush here.
eeevees are not monies yet...they are like baby monies.

Thanks for the reply bode. I posted those hands because a) I played them differently to what I usually play b) I won nonetheless

Hand 1: Villain had AQo. That was a far better hand than I put him on and I purely tested if I could milk money out of a weak Ace. Usually I bet harder on each street.

Hand 2: I should have said that 1x villain was 50/30 and the other 90/46(yes true). Hence my way passive lines. I usually always bet my sets but I was hoping for a push from button who was quite deep and has overbet the pot on my occassions. FPS by me.

Hand 3: I had a discussion with a friend regarding sets oop. I always used to bet them out but I also often c/c flop and lead turn. But against a thinking opponent this often was telegraphing my hand way to early. Initially I wanted to lead turn but when the flush card hit I thought that villain either a) has a flush and I'm behind or b) doesn't have a flush and would fold the turn. As I was not folding this was my chosen line. Villain had ATo (maybe that was ISF)

How to turn a winning session into a loosing one. I am such a fish. I even knew I was beat on the river and I still called. I am so angry with myself. Just doubled a shortie who runner runner flushed on me. Dammit! Why do I need only 30 more points on Tower? I need to stop as I'm on tilt.

Unless there's a solid read that he's very tight I just stick it in on the turn or even the flop in that hand. Now shut down the computer and take the day off.

I only played as long as needed to to finish the 5x sign-up bonus on Tower which is really easy to clear. I can't be too unhappy by depositing $300 and withdrawing $880 but my $100NL career is just a little bit swingy. I was initially down -$300 and then up +$350 and finished up +$35. I can't believe that I lost 3x buy-ins in 2 days just because I misplayed 1 hand which threw me off my A-game. Only $50 lost were due to a bad beat, the rest was played badly.

The plan at the moment is to finish off Ladbroke's sign-up bonus (already did the Booster Promo) and then to whore PokerroomLA and William Hill in May.

I cannot wait to get off Ladbrokes. What a horrible, horrible site. 3500 hands played, $-126 at -1.63BB/100. Why is this horrible? I have made 3 of a kind less than 50x, a straight less than 30x and a flush less than 17x. I know its a small sample but in comparison to other sites the worst reward for my hands ever. Maybe I am just used to Ongame.

I will play a WSOP freeroll qualifier on Titan tomorrow. I have also opened an account with CD Poker where they will offer freerolls to the WSOP (through a certain affiliate) and playing against a field of approx 500 I fancy my chances. And best of it all it's free.

That said, if you can't be in the correct mindset while playing there then obviously you shouldn't.

Welcome to iPoker! 144 hands -$215 -75bb/100

Poker is over for me tonight as I'm steaming. Here are my biggest loosers. Couldn't catch a break at all. I will only finish off the Ladbrokes bonus (played on iPoker because Lads was quiet) and then go to Ongame again.

Dropped down to $50NL again. Loosing stacks to 2-outers sucks and I need confidence. I have replayed my big hands at $100NL and I put in my money with the best hand. Above examples are just a small drop in the ocean.

But this hand sums up my 'luck' at the moment.
