Why am I so good at getting beat?

Default Why am I so good at getting beat?

Ughh. I lost over 150 today on PP.

What could it possibly be about my play that makes people call my big re-raises with the low pair only to backdoor a flush or a full house? Why does my reraise to 30 with AA get re-raised with K5o to all in only for me to lose the hand? Why do people play their pocket 4's to the river when I make a bluff at a pot? And why the hell does my ace high flush on the flop with a 8 dollar bet (16xBB) get called by someone with a set only for them to backdoor a FH??

I am now back to my initial buy-in with online poker, and I am quite sure that I am going to cashout for good. It seems like I am a fish magnet. Are B+M casinos the same way at the 1/2 NL100 tables? Are there any other online sites with much less fish?

Rofl, you are complaining about fish, when you should be happy you aren't playing with sharks.

BnM casinos have more fish so you will probably lose more.

PokerStars has slightly less fish... but why in god's name do you want people who play better? Your money comes from people who suck more than you (paraphrased from Fnord, no offense). Just so you know, backdoor does not mean rivered, backdoor means runner runner. A set usually has 10 good outs to make a full house on the turn. A flush draw has 9. You're playing .25/.50 NL right? You'd be eaten alive at higher stakes if you were thinking of moving up to avoid bad beats. If you know someone will take their low PPs to the end, don't bluff. Only bluff the bluffable. Re-evaluate your game, don't knock the players that are ATMs for the rest of us. That'll make them get better and take your money consistently... end rant

My advice is to get away from Party Poker. I know a lot of people here love it, but it's a bad beat factory. Always has been, and always will be. I'm not going to be a conspiracy theorist. All I'm saying is you lose more often there when you throw your money in with a great hand.

Also, the SnG's only give you 800 chips to start. I know you don't hear this word too often, but that's preposterous. You make one mistake and you're short stack all in Charlie. Not to mention there are more moves being made all around you by short stacks given the chips in play, which makes it tough to see a lot of flops for cheap.

Another downfall is no micro limits to learn on.

You want my advice? Go somewhere else. My recommendation is Poker Champs. You don't get drawn out abnormally. The shuffling algorithm is different. The players are slightly better (They actually fold a draw for big bets). Also, you start a SnG with almost twice as many chips (1500). The premium multi table tourneys let you start with 3,000 chips! Now that's poker.
It's not what's inside that counts. Have you seen what's inside?
Internal organs. And they're getting uglier by the minute.

I'm with rondavu.. poker champs is good. I can play a less camping game there and win easily. I havent played on party but it seems worse than your average aquarium. You shouldnt be complaining about fish though, thats an easy game to beat, it just has a higher variance. $150 is 6 buyins, assuming your at NL25, and i can see that happenning.. it could be just a nasty down swing.

acording to the poker champs site it doesnt actually run on an algorithm, it is a TRNG as apposed to a RNG and claims to be more random. (apparently the RNG system isnt actually random and if you can work out the algorithm you can therefore work out what cards are coming, its just a very very complex pattern that comes out as if random)
    villain goes AI
i call with a set (i have him owned)
    i win pot
villain: **** this, this site is bullshit, ******* rigged, suck out ****

more fish than your average aquarium i see what you've done there

I havent played at the above sites so i cant tell you. I play at bet365 with all the scandanavians from expekt (i dont know any1 else yet on ftr who plays there as well) There are enough smaller limit tables to learn at and to start making your bankrole up. Provided you play safe and sensible poker you will win cash.
Ther arent too many people who go randomly chasing made hands but i have seen more than i would expect mad flops and 1000/1 shots come in.

Still there dont seem to be that many sharks, nor a million daft fish although there are only a couple of freeroles a day but the mtts are ripe for pickings.

Don't complain about the fish - they will pay you off in the long term. But you may want a method of playing with less variance. Try looking up Aokrongly's post on Counterplay in the beginners section (it's not really a beginners technique) for some ideas on how to play when there are lots of fish who love to suck out on you as well as the occasional shark. I've tried it at the PP 0.25/0.5 NL tables and it works pretty well as long as you are disciplined!!

It sounds like you're running bad. Take a break then play through it. The last thing you want to do is try to outplay these guys because you think you're better. They don't know what being outplayed is so any fancy moves are lost on them.

I play live games and prefer it over online. There are more fish in live games for sure, especially at a 100NL game.

As a matter of fact, I've heard that the 200NL game at Commerce is the bad beat capital of world. It's so loose (not the smart kind) and aggressive that all the "action" players are attracted to it. I know someone that lost $1,000 with QQ when a guy called with K6o on the FLOP! The guy rivered a king and won. What kind of crazy stuff is that?

it could be that they got a good read on you. you apparently didn't have a good read on them as calling stations, or you wouldn't have bluffed.

And why the hell does my ace high flush on the flop with a 8 dollar bet (16xBB) get called by someone with a set only for them to backdoor a FH??
would you fold a set in this situation? depending on the pot size, i probably wouldn't.

Are B+M casinos the same way at the 1/2 NL100 tables?
worse. and that's a good thing.

ultimate bet is pretty tight. stars too, i hear. but i wouldn't know, because i don't play at tight sites. i prefer raking large pots when my hands hold up.

I hear PokerStars and UltimateBet have their fair share of sharks. The Party skins and PacificPoker have always had some of the softest(but suckouts-iest) games on the net.

I am now back to my initial buy-in with online poker, and I am quite sure that I am going to cashout for good.
You're going through what I'm going through right now.I'm essentially back to my initial buy in(if I'm lucky) and I know that it's tough but sometimes you do need to languish at a level for a while before moving back up.

A large problem with trying to play through this is that you have obviously let yourself take the beats to heart. Therefore I recommend a break, whether that be a day or a week, to clear your mind. You had that initial deposit once and were well up until yesterday, so you can do it again.

It's good practice and technically free since you haven't actually lost anything. Learning to deal with suckouts will make you a better player, especially when the idea is to play the bad players whom will ocassionally suckout.

Continue putting them in the position as to where they make bad decisions and over the long term you will win more than you lose.
