Default Quote / Edit not working

It's not actually quoting anything when you respond to a post with quote for me.
I also went to edit a post and it was just a blank field in the edit post page.

Is this a FTR thing, or a MMM thing?

See, I just went to edit that post to eliminate the 2nd person slip.

It did propagate that post into the text box in the edit page, but then it disappeared less than a second later.

    ---

edit: here i am, editing your post.

edit - I can edit posts too, I have the buttons.

this is me editing this post, but I cannot see what was in the post prior to my edit. All I see is a blank window, aside from this text I'm entering.

... and that edit completely replaced what was that post.

This is happening to me on 2 different computers, both at work and at home.

    Any ideas what's up?
  8. #8
hmm, very weird. no idea what's up. it works for me in both chrome and firefox. looking into what may be causing this.

    I'm having no such problems.

"looking into what may be causing this."

I have mental images of workmen walking around with clipboards, pointing at things, writing things down and scratching their heads a bit.

    ya, pretty much.

    current solution something like:

ok so this is only affecting certain users and it's confirmed to be working fine for ongie and myself. however, mmm and keith are having issues across multiple machines.

i'm kind of stumped here. i've tried both chrome and firefox and all systems are go. do either of you have any kind of ublock/adblock running that could be blocking scripts on FTR? if so, could you try disabling them or adding FTR to the excluded sites? or could you try a different browser?

Just to note - we are doing a few major upgrades next week or early december which may fix odd issues like this. we're going to be upgrading the servers that host FTR on and i will be upgrading the default PHP version and the final version of vbulletin 4 shortly thereafter.

Well, add boost to the list of users experiencing problems.

Just to confirm, I'm on my work computer now, without any script blockers and with FTR definitely approved by ABP. ABP says "disabled on this site" with 0 ads blocked this page.

I haven't tried another browser yet. I'll report back when I have done so.

Jack Sawyer posted in another thread about this issue and throws down the gauntlet for gmml.

Had the same issue for a while (a couple months?), both in firefox and chrome, with or without ad-/scriptblockers.

can everyone with this issue try again now? it's incredibly hard to troubleshoot without being able to reproduce the issue.]

Nope, doesn't. I guess it's totally possible it's client-side, what browser are you using for testing? FF, Chrome and Comodo latest versions all not working.

Meant to ask what browser versions you're using, but I can't edit my question now can I.

Well, now when I click "Edit Post" I see the swirling circle icon, but nothing else happens.

Figured it out, it's the enhanced message editor. Switched to standard and now it works, at least through the Go Advanced.

Hey Jack, thanks for the video! And thanks for the temp solution, Cocco.

I'm updating vbulletin this week, which I think will fix all of these issues and hopefully not create more. I may reach out to a few of you to see if you would be able to login to an updated test directory to see if the issues are resolved, within the next few days.

Sorry for this issue being present for so long, I'm hoping to have this done by Friday.

    himself fucker.
I love that we're all here. When I press return-carriage key, it doesn't put space lines between my sentences. I dun like that. edit and I see that you have space lines from your return-carriage, so please advise.

I'll be PMing a few users tonight to try reproducing the error on a new development board. Appreciate any and all responses!

B tags have no formatting and strong tags are not recognized at all GMML, fix the css

Edit: added newline for rilla. I already told you about that bug earlier as well gmml, I wasn't paying attention as to whether it was fixed or not

    Another line

And another line. Does it work?

Edit 2: Magic! Now it works!

hm, i replied to this thread but now it's gone. must have something to do with the server migration - i hope too many other posts weren't lost.

anyway, i thought you reported this issue in the dev forum only, so didn't think it was affecting the live board. i haven't been changing anything, so i have no idea how the issue would resolve itself then stop working again? there are a lot of funky things going on here...

we will be rolling out an update to vBulletin soon which should resolve all of these issues. sorry for all the delays.
