    Default Why is it when

early on in an MTT (1st or 2nd level) when you raise pre-flop w/ any of the top 5 hands 8-10xBB (blinds at either 5-10 or 10-20) no one shows respect arghhhhhhhh. (I don't have the hand history sorry) 3rd hand in the 3:00 a.m. $5.50 MTT at UB (all stacks start out w/1500):

    Me

I raise in the SB 100chips and get 4 callers

    Flop:

I see top set I'm first to act and I bet the pot (410) only the button calls.

    turn

Now I'm like WTF. So I wait for a few seconds and bet ~ half the pot (600) and get re-raised all in. So i'm like damm I'm screwed. I tell my self there is no such thing as pot commited over and over again like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz. The buzzer sounds "you have 15 seconds to make your decison" and...

At this point there are only 2 hands that can beat you. KJ and AA. I'd call.
I don't know what they have to say
    It makes no difference anyway.
    Whatever it is...
    I'm against it.

I'd call, this early he's probably trying to double up quick (was this an R&A) he's probalby holding an ace or a couple of clubs, or maybe a jack, but you have to put him to the test.

From the tone of your post i fear something bad happened to you here...

    No this wasn't an R&A.

I'll post the results when I get out of this hell I call my job

like humpty said your only beat by AA or KJ, call.
It's hard work. Gambling. Playing poker. Think about what it's like sitting at a poker table with people whose only goal is to cut your throat, take your money, and leave you out back talking to yourself about what went wrong inside.

well I wish I could say that I folded like a pro but I called and...

    Player A

    River

Screw it it sucks to be me (sorry rilla I'm stealing your line). 289 out of 299 players but what the hell at least I didn't lose any sleep over it. I just hate the fact that when it's early in an MTT raising the BB 8-10x with a premium hand early on just doesn't get the same respect as when it happens late in the tourney. Maybe I should raise more....I don't know what do you think?

I would definitely raise more pre-flop with a hand like QQ in this situation. I actually play some late night tourneys on UB myself and all I can say is these players are LOOSE. I dont know if they just came back from the bar or they are half asleep or what but if u just wait for big hands and then push hard they will still pay you off. QQ wants to be heads up on the flop. Raise as much as you think you can get away with while still getting 1-2 callers.
The only losing session is the one you learned nothing from.
