Default To bet or not to bet

Situation: I have A2 suited in middle position and limp in with a few others. Flop comes J62, and the J6 are suited to give me the nut flush draw to complement my pair of twos.

Two people ahead of me check. One player still behind me. Table is fairly tight from what I can tell. Bet or no?

    Results in a minute.

I think I'd throw outa 2-3X BB if everyone limped into the hand. Make it look like you're protecting top pair, possibly low kicker? That way if you get callers and land your flush, any slow play tactics will play well since you have them thinking your jx low kicker only warrants a call.

I would check, and then check raise if LP bets. Since you are still on a draw, I would protect the hand but try to see the turn for free if possible. With the nut flush draw, if there are no raises or re-raises, I'm going to see the river anyway.

I would think you would want as much money as possible in that pot once your flush comes. Through out a pot size bet there, you might be able to take it down uncontested. You want to give yourself pot odds there and if you slowplay a flush draw, it will be too obvious to the other players once your flush hits. You don't have a made hand YET, but bet like you do.

You've got plenty of outs for most likely the best hand, 9 outs for the flush, 3 aces, and 2 twos. I dont know the relative pot size to the BB here, but I would say just a little under the size of the pot here.

i agree with elipsesjeff. not only do you get all the goodies he mentioned, you might be able to BUY the button by making the people fold behind you. if someone in early position calls the raise, you can almost certainly take the free card on the turn.

Easy move. When i'm playing a draw out of position, I just bet 1/2 the pot. If I get called, I'm fine with that. If they fold, I'm fine with that too. If I get raised I'm a bit un-happy but a raise usually opens the doors to some nice implied odds, I might take my shot.

Bet a little and see where it takes you.

Apparently we share a brain. I bet half the pot. Unfortunately (or fortunately?) everyone folded this time, but I find that it's a good move as a general rule. You represent a made hand, disguising your draw, and if you hit it you can then check the flush card and get an over-aggressive player to bluff at you. Didn't work out like that this time but I took the pot anyway.
