I lost my bankroll today and need some advice on what books to read.

I am basically going to re-teach myself hold'em, because my currenty way of playing is win-lose-win-lose-win-lose-bust.

I am getting Brunson's SS soon, and need some other recommendations?

SS is a bit outdated, I wouldn't follow the strategies he teaches for NLHE.

I suggest you get Theory of Poker if you want to teach yourself Holdem properly again.

There's your problem. You need to play within your bankroll. If 2 bad beats completely wipe out your bankroll, you're dangerously underfunded. You cannot deny lucks effect on short term gains and loses. You might just be running into "I'm screwed" situations and lose 2 buy ins. You need atleast 10 even upwards of 15 or 20 buy ins to play comfortable and not be tilted by a bad beat. Your game is probably fine but you just don't have enough money to handle the short term variance.

ya i realize that now that i'm broke. I'm going to take some time off, re-educate myself, and buy in with a decent bankroll after a while.

Super System is not outdated other than the blinds- and antestructures imo. Trying to copy the strategies described in the book to play on low stakes online tables is not a very good idea though. Doyle were playing with deep stacks against fairly good opponents. That's a huge difference from most online pokerrooms. Just read the sentence about bad players a lot of times and don't forget it: "Just outplay them". I think the book is really good anyway. Everybody playing NL/PL should read it. Try "Pot&No Limit Poker" by Ciaffone as well. I haven't read it but I heard really good things about it.

"Small stakes holdem" is about fixed limit and won't help you much at the NL-tables.

if you can, try and give yourself a $500 bankroll to start. the $100 bonuses from party, empire, pokernow, etc. will pad your losses.

Try "Pot&No Limit Poker" by Ciaffone as well. I haven't read it but I heard really good things about it.

I can attest (IMHO) that this book is great. Really helped train me to think differently about the NL game--as opposed to limit. I definitely plugged some holes, and go back to it every once in a while for reinforcement.

Both Ciaffone and Reuben trade off with solid advice in essay format...then they quiz you on situations.

It might help you get back on track .
