The fair board here is considering putting on a NLHE tourney during Bull Bash and then again during Fair & Rodeo.
Oregon is the state. Does anyone know the legality concerning these things? Can the house charge an entry or a one time rake, etc.?
TIA

No idea on your state laws, but in general a poker tourny is legal if the house takes no rake and 100% of the entry fees are paid out as winnings.

Hmmmm... I figured as much but was curious how PP, UB, PS and others take a rake while I set here in Oregon and 'gamble' at poker? Are their servers in Nevada, Atlantic City, on an Indian Reservation, beyond the twelve mile limit off shore, in another country?

i live in the willamette valley between salem and eugene and as far as i know, each county is allowed to make their own laws on gambling. that being said, RD is right in all the counties i know of. no rake or fee can be taken by the house and the house is not permitted to make odds. i have never heard though, that the house can't overcharge for beer and soda
