Small Blind Help

I have trouble playing out of the small blind. I seem to be calling too often just because "I'm half way in." I plan to play $1/$2 very soon (introduced myself couple months back as the guy that will start playing in October... )and could use some input. If there are say, 3-4 limpers at a full table am I justified calling with suited cards because of the pot odds? Say 67s, T8s. How far down do you go, or not go?

I'd appreciate any tips playing out of the small blind. I seem to call when I have "anything with potential" just because of the cheap price. However, I have been pretty good at getting away from TP with a weak kicker and not getting in trouble (say when I play 97s). I realize that all the fish play the suited cards way too often (I guess I am a fish as well...), but is it okay to do so in the SB?

I would play any of these hands in an unraised pot from the small blind.

If the pot were raised and there was at least 3-4 way action I would play the suited connectors in a raised pot. I'll also play just about any pocket pair in the SB, unless it is 3 bet to me.

I am very timid as far as raising from the small blind. You are so out of position on hands like AK, AQ, QQ...

It's probably a mistake, but I have only been raising with AA,KK and sometimes QQ from the SB.

As simple rule to tighten up is to play only hands you would play from the button...

But Toasty some of us will play literally ANYthing on the button depending on the situation.

Here's doyle:

"if enough (say, five) people were in the pot in front of me ... and I didn't think there'd be any more raises. I might call a small raise and take a turn with a trash hand because it's a good percentage play ...

I'd even raise with a trash hand if I was in position. More than that ... I'd play it fast after the flop, too. If the guys in the early positions threw their hands away and someone in a middle position limped-in ... welll I'd be in position and I'd raise it regardless of what two cards I have."

The key is that Doyle is playing position ONLY in these cases. If you're somehow convinced that PF will be the end of it, you can treat SB (or BB) like the button.
