bikes, I'm not saying the following because I am some pot head that desperately wants to support any claim to legitimacy that marijuana has-- that being said, weed can be very helpful to people with ADD, anxiety, stress, and all sorts of other mental ailments. It may be a cure-all placebo just because it is billed as a cure-all, or it may actually work on a chemical level, I'm not sure either way. But it's worth giving it a go. You don't have to get baked out of your mind every time either.

    4 cookies!!??!

The last time I had edibles they were off the charts potent. Was told to eat 1/4 but ate the whole thing. Did some serious tripping that night.

Agree with Boost but wanna add that self medicating can be seriously detrimental.

He strikes me as the kind of guy that never gets around to doing stuff. Pretty sure the last thing he needs is something that gives him even less motivation. Peddle your warez elsewhere, pothead!

Not true. While some lucky people can toke all day and still achieve something, for most people it robs you of your drive and ambition and replaces it with a blurry contentedness.

pretty sure I disagree with this, even though that is generally the case for me. But I think it is the case for me, and for most people who suffer from that side effect, because we get baked out of our mind every time we get high. I smoke infrequently enough to have never really built up a tolerance. So whenever I take what seems like a normal dosage (one joint or even half a joint) I am out of the fucking game. However, if I just take one small hit, I get this nice mellow high where I am fully functional. So from personal experience, I would think that experimenting with dosage-- or just getting high as fuck for a few weeks straight to build up your tolerance, is the way to go...
  19. #8644
yeah i'm with boost, it has to do with dosage. i mean you can get so high to the point where you literally just can't do anything even if you wanted to. i enjoy getting a little high and working out, hiking, writing, reading, messing with music, cleaning, etc. i don't think it makes me productive, but ii doesn't make me unproductive... unless i smoke a lotttttt.

Hmmm, I smoked pretty much every day for over 5 yrs or so, often in the morning too, as did all of my social world. The vast majority of those people who I still know quit smoking before they did anything productive with their lives, aside from a few who achieved while still smoking heavily. All of them say the same thing, weed drained them of the desire they needed to be successful. Many still smoke at occasional social events or w/e but only one or two smoke daily.

Smoking the occasional joint isn't going to have the same negative effect as heavy usage.

Does weed make you lazy and unmotivated or is weed just really attractive to lazy and unmotivated people because it makes the banal interesting? I think it can keep people stuck in ruts longer than they should be, because the ruts are more tolerable when you're medicated, but the same thing can be said of a lot of drugs. There are too many examples of successful stoners to conclude a causal relationship between weed and laziness.

Why does weed get blamed for lazy shits? Lots of lazy unmotivated alcoholics, and yet booze doesn't have the stigma that if you have a few beers every night you'll never get anything done, but if someone smokes every night they're immediately assumed to be a lazy stoner.

As a productive stoner I am outraged, but not enough to do anything about it cuz I'm lazy obv

    ya, pretty much this.

And going further we shouldn't discount the potential value of making banal topics interesting. Tons of amazing art, and probably a good amount of academic/scientific advances, were made thanks to an individuals ability to focus on the seemingly mundane long enough for spectacular things to happen.

Whilst that's all true, I still think for the majority of people smoking weed daily will have a negative effect on their success and productivity. But that's not to say their aren't positives that weed can bring into your lives or that all people will experience a net negative on their lives.

The uniquely different perspective psychedelics can give you is something that's too often dismissed. I'd go so far as to say that I think there's therapeutic potential that's being buried in a sea of misconceptions and stereotypes.
  29. #8654
it's not a coincidence that psychadelics users are full of super smart, innovative people who believe love and peace are the solution

if humankind ever wants to solve its problems, it will require a culture of avid psychadelics use. hundreds, maybe thousands of years from now, they'll look back at our time and call this another Dark Ages of psychadelics demonization

Do you have statistics to cite on this? Because I find this really interesting. Or is this just a wufwugy FACT?

well it's not a wufwugy FACT since im actually serious, but no i do not have citations

this is more like hypothesis-land of something that is not studied much because drugs are the devil, yet what we do know suggests there would be some seriously amazing discoveries made if we did spend a lot of time studying it

anecdote is anecdote, but the overwhelming majority of what i hear about psychadelics is along the lines of what george carlin and joe rogan say i.e. theyre mind openers, game changers, morals shifters.

actually there is a tiny bit of research showing psilocybin is anti-depressant Magic mushroom trips point to long-acting antidepressant drugs | The Raw Story

I think maybe England fans should just fuck the major competitions and celebrate the FIFA rankings. We're 3rd. We're better than Italy, Argentina, Portugal, Holland and Brazil. Fact. We don't need to win against these teams, just give us marginal victories against Sweden and Ukraine and we'll be third best in the world. Easy game.

I mean Jesus wept, Brazil are 13th, behind Greece. Just... what? How do they pick these rankings? Pick Spain and Germany 1st and 2nd, then pick the rest out of a hat? However they do it, I like it. England are back!!! Without even playing well!!!

Men's 200m final, our boy came in fifth. Fuckin' fifth in the entire world! From a tiny speck of an island in the middle of nowhere, smaller than Kingston!

    Boooyaahh!

In 2008, he got DQ'd with a 19.82. If he did that same exact time once more he'd have a bronze medal. As a nation, we couldn't be any more proud of you son!

    This day in history:
Controversy arose within minutes after the medal race when Wallace Spearmon, who finished third in 19.95 s was disqualified for stepping out of his lane. United States officials filed a protest, but conceded after seeing the video and noticing that silver medalist Churandy Martina (19.82 s) who had celebrated the second ever Olympic medal for the Netherlands Antilles, also may have stepped out of his lane. They filed an appeal to disqualify Martina, which after more than an hour of deliberation was granted, through which the United States obtained both the silver and bronze medals.[3] [4] On March 6, 2009, the Court of Arbitration for Sport rejected an appeal by the National Olympic Committee of the Netherlands Antilles against Martina's disqualification.[5] Shawn Crawford, who had been awarded the Olympic silver medal, reportedly gave his medal to Martina on August 28, 2008 in a tremendous show of sportsmanship.

Canada will drug test and ban our own athletes from any competition during local, regional and national events. How in the hell can you win when your own Country doesn't want to compete at an international level. Also, most of our Olympic athletes need jobs to pay for a lot more of their own training and equipment in comparison to other countries as far as I know.

So yes, as far as the Olympics, we suck. I'd still rather be here

That would matter if there weren't rules against how many people can represent a country in the medal rounds. If China were allowed to take Gold, Silver, Bronze, and 4th in trampoline, then your metric would matter.
