    Default 8Ts in the BB

Again, very early on in the session. I normally wouldn't play this kind of hand but like to start loose to gauge how other people play.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.02 BB (6 handed) - PokerStars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    MP ($2.46)
    CO ($4.44)
    Button ($0.89)
    SB ($4.86)
    Hero (BB) ($3.52)
    UTG ($1.51)

Preflop: Hero is BB with 8, 10
UTG calls $0.02, 1 fold, CO bets $0.06, Button calls $0.06, SB calls $0.05, Hero calls $0.04, UTG calls $0.04

    Flop: ($0.30) 9, 10, 10 (5 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, UTG checks, CO bets $0.10, 1 fold, SB calls $0.10, Hero calls $0.10, 1 fold

    Turn: ($0.60) 2 (3 players)
SB checks, Hero checks, CO bets $0.32, SB calls $0.32, Hero calls $0.32

    River: ($1.56) 6 (3 players)
    SB bets $0.88, Hero ???

    preflop is fine
get some money in on the flop or the turn vs their 78/8J/JQ/9x/33-77 cos they'll put in money with cards to come and while you're ahead, but won't be putting in much more money if they get to the river unimproved
as played just call river - then berate yourself for the combo of flop and tur play

you can also start tight and watch hands to see how other people play. Will probably be cheaper for you.

I am generally quite a tight player, so starting off loose generally works well for me as I don't get any respect for later raises with good hands.

you give bad players at 2nl a lot of credit for noticing such things. Anyway, i think your approach of starting off loose without any reads is bad - but i'm wrong often enough and whatever works for you is fine obviously

This is the thing I struggle with. The range of players, some are very good and some are very bad. Throws me off my game sometimes.

I start off pretty loose, but I try to make sure I don't lose much money doing so, other times I have lost 2BI within an hour.

It's really not a good idea to slowplay made (yet vulnerable) hands, especially out of position multiway at 2nl. Your hand is effectively the nuts at 2nl and you'll get paid off a ton on the flop and turn against draws and overpairs if you play more aggressively.

As played, river is close - I'd make a nitty fold given sb has suddenly woken up leading the 3rd spade on a paired board (and they normally have it when they do this at the micros).

GL with your learning and +1 to what daven said.

lead flop to build a pot and because we are so multiway someone has to have a piece. lead turn because we need to get value and nothing that called the flop is likely to fold on that card (plus we already know the guy with the initiative, ie most likely to bet, sizes his bets far too small). probably just call river now, but you really shouldnt have got into this spot.

ps, literally NO-ONE is "very good" at 2nl. or any microstakes for that matter. even the better players at 2nl have huuuuuuge leaks. that's why they are playing the lowest stakes available online.

pps, i see no reason to start out playing loose in a player heavily dominated by loose/passive calling stations.

ppps, if you do insist on checking the flop and turn, i prefer check/raising than check calling on either street

this post sounds harsh. wasn't intended to be that way. i just think you have made lots of pretty significant mistakes in this hand/your thought process

OK, thanks a lot for the advice. Is it ever worth posting how the hand ended up playing out & what opponents had or not?

Not really. It just skews the feedback to being results oriented. If you feel the showdown is pertinent, then wait a week or so from when you start the thread to add it.
