    Default K9s on BU....

    Hey Guys,
I Finally got my laptop, so i can start posting hands. Villain is a super-nit, and I saw him fold a couple other big rivers, his flat calling range is pretty narrow 66-88 KJ+,AT maybe JJ. i just felt like he was trying to price me out on the turn, but the more I look at it the more stupid i think my River shove is here.... he could have been slow-playing and value betting the turn, what do you think?

My gut says the small blind tried to float the flop and steal on the turn, expecting you to open-raise pre-flop from the button a bit light and C-bet when checked to on most flops. (a correct read, I'd wager)

I feel like your river shove is never getting called by worse here, and so many draws came through on the river. You may be able to get a stronger Kx hand to fold, like KJ, but they will probably fold to a smaller bet, too.

no, if he's trying to get a king to fold he's gotta shove.

LOL if he folded a king.

I would just check this behind against the opponent described, but I could see that being a small mistake.

Small mistake in comparison to pushing? Betting smaller? Just curious.

I think checking behind seems good but I haven't looked at a poker hand in over a year.

I wish we had more reads though. And this hand is probably a good example on why we need more detailed notes.

I'm only ever betting less than all-in here with a specific read that a different bet would be more profitable against a particular player.

just wondering what that read would be

A fish who doesn't want to leave the game and probably can't afford to rebuy so he figures to play too tight against an all-in until he plays for a while or gets down to a shorter stack. (Mostly a mid/high live game thing.)

A spew monkey on tilt after doing cocaine who figures to have a very weak hand and might go nuts (or call with something like bottom pair) against a 1/4 to 1/3 pot here.

    Those sorts of plays.

Outside of just exploiting people like that, it's probably best for balance to just check or shove with about pot or so left behind on the river.

Villain has f-all here almost always and isn't calling a river bet. If you're going to bet then you should jam, but I don't hate checking behind to get some info on villain.

If villain led the flop I wouldn't bet river as I take that line with tp sometimes hoping missed draws will bluff, but the c/c on the flop followed by the check on the river gives him a hand that won't call a shove. Perhaps you could have got value from worse with a smaller bet though.

I'm confused. In your mind at the time, were you bluffing or value betting?
Just dipping my toes back in.
