That's fine if you have a read he does it too much. Other options are: call and play a hand in position, call and bluff-raise the flop, or call and float him, depending on flops etc. Don't do anything light too much though or it'll stop working and turn spewy.

When you steal 2x you have to expect tags to reraise you with almost any decent hand. Raising 3x or even 2.5x will cut that down, but there's always a tradeoff.

If we increase our raise size, then it makes our problem worse because we're losing more the times we fold to a 3-bet. Also, our steal can still be profitable even if he's 3-betting us like 20-25% as long as the other guy isn't 3-betting that much as well.

I got the idea that the BB was 3-betting his minraise like 100%, just to 'eff with him'.

Maybe I've lost it in translation?

My suggestion to open larger is based on the fact that I almost never get 3-bet by the BB when I open to 3.5BB. Even a call is pretty rare.

I guess you are implying that mathematically, it is a more profitable strategy to minraise from the button? I guess there is some elementary concept here that I am just not aware of, since that other guy laughed at my suggestion and inquired if i 'do fractions'...

I am assuming I should use the search term 'blind stealing' + 'spoon' or similar?
