    Default Poker Soundtrack

I need to get a good soundtrack going for my grinds.. What songs do you guys (or gals) typically listen to?

If it detracts away 1% of your brainpower to listen to music, which I'm sure it does. I would recommend not listening to any music. If you are bored enough to need music, you need to add tables.

Agreed. Except maybe not with the "add tables" part (only do that if you can still focus clearly on it). I usually have music breaks where i sitout for a couple orbits when I feel the need and I listen to loud music to stimulate my mind. I use anything from "get rich" rap (inspiring to make money) to house music (energizes me) to baroque (calm myself/organize my thoughts and my mind).
    OP: Beginner to Master

If I bet as a bluff, I should be thinking "am I getting better hands to fold? Is it likely that he will fold x% of the time to a y sized bet to make it +EV?". If I bet for value, I should be thinking "am I getting worst hands to call? Am I ahead of enough of his range that this is a good value bet?".

I listen to a free web station called Last FM.You pick a genre/artist and it plays everything related to it.Usually I listen to bass driven jazz like Victor Wooten(Bass guitar god from the Dave Mathews band) or Jaco Pastoria.Sometimes I just type in funk and you get everything from George Clinton to the Red Hot Chili Peppers.Keep the volume down and it just keeps a good flowing beat as a backround soundtrack.I don't function very well without music, however,if it distracts you from your play it should remain off.

Perhaps I am not the average Joe in this case but I find the opposite true. When I have a good beat playing I feel more focused on the tables. The only way I can see it as a destraction is if you feel compelled to sing the lyrics or something.

i also feel more focused listening to music.. on most cases i prefer some good hiphop like 50cent and DMX, some of the old stuff. Main one's being "I get money" "Window Shopper" etc etc.. seems to help me get into a groove and thinking about money, lol....

but either way, sometimes there are days I'd prefer not to listen to anything and complete silence is better...

I would not recommend listening to any music at the tables. if you are playing online. i guess it wouldn't hurt sometimes, but playing live it is a big no-no. there's are many things that you miss when you listen to music. it divides your attention and when you miss a tell from your opponent it could cost you hundreds of dollars all for the sake of one great song...not worth it

i personally focus better without music. music and poker are my two passions, really, so its hard for me not to let one have its fair share of attention when presented with both at once.

Young Jeezy. If his albums don't get you motivated, then idk what will...
You wanna die? Run on up on that black Seven forty-five.

I suppose this is where the difference lies. I don't exactly have a talent for music and so don't really pay any attention to it. Perhaps I use it to drown out other, more distracting noises in my appartment (nagging gf, etc). Whatever the case it works for me.

    deadmau5 is good stuff.

I picked up 2 of this guys cd's a couple weeks ago and its been great for the grind. youtube it and see what you think. Some people prefer other types of music when grinding (i.e. classical, or rap) so its best just to experiment a bit and see what works. I grind well to house music, but thats just my personal preference.

this sounds like listening to music could potentially boost your productivity, where as stated previously, for others it just makes things more difficult.
