    Default AQs vs 2 Villians 10NL 6Max

Why 3-bet preflop? This is not my standard move, but HJ is 46/27 with 0% fold to 3 bet over two atemps, sure it is a small sample of 26 hands but I went with it. CO also has a 0% fold to 3-bet over 1 hand over a total hand count of 26, he is running 42/42. Plus his range includes tons of small and middle pockets.

Both players are semi aggressive but not to the point where I am too worried. I thought they would call me with their pockets and other dominated hands and play straightforward, with an occasional bluff.

As this was for value I think I could have gone a bit bigger like 1.2. Not sure how to judge this. In theory they have odds to call with their pockets but I am not going to lose my stack every so meh.

Flop sucks monkey balls. Since a big part of their range are pockets 22-jj (doubtful qq+ is in there giving the way preflop played out) So if I c-bet I fold out 44 and not even for sure. So I have to check. I am very confident with this, but if someone presents a good argument for c-betting here I am all ears.

So turn call is meh. I need 6.7:1 to call if I assume my A and Q outs are good, which is very likely considering the paring of boards, obv 22,33,66 are in his range but it is a tiny percentage, plus there could be some weaksuace air in there.

I am getting 3.63:1, but between him calling a value bet on the river and % air. Eh. the call is very meh, but not as confident.

    PokerStars No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (6 handed) - Poker-Stars Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    MP ($21.40)
    CO ($10.15)
    Hero (Button) ($11.20)
    SB ($11)
    BB ($13.25)
    UTG ($23.40)

Preflop: Hero is Button with Q, A
1 fold, MP bets $0.30, CO calls $0.30, Hero raises to $1, 2 folds, MP calls $0.70, CO calls $0.70

    Flop: ($3.15) 2, 6, 3 (3 players)
MP checks, CO checks, Hero checks

    Turn: ($3.15) 6 (3 players)
MP bets $1.20, 1 fold, Hero calls $1.20

    River: ($5.55) K (2 players)
    MP bets $3.30, Hero folds

    Total pot: $5.55 | Rake: $0.25

Only way I can bet the flop is if I think they will fold low pockets to barrels. But i would need to b/b/b shove river which seems like a high variance play and giving pot size I think they might look me up with 99-jj.

I'd 3b pre all day but thats at 2nl with generally wider ranges (I'd flat the occasional reg thats on 6 of my tables). I'd just fold turn without doing calculations on my pair draws, but you probably know what you're doing. I'm not assuming that he has a set, except we have shitty equity against the range i see him on (unless you think we can bluff him off a small PP).

you gave reasoning in here why you shouldnt call yet you did anyway. as for odds to call on the turn you need to consider the times you get there and still lose (reverse implied odds) and folding the best hand occasionally on the river.

3bet pre is fine. Either raise turn if he has a fold button or just gtfo of the hand.
[00:29] <daven> dc, why not check turn behind
    [00:30] <DC> daven
    [00:30] <DC> on my hand?

Why did you call the turn when your position hadn't improved and his apparently did?

fongvoltfan - What range do we put them on? Would a bet be for value or as a bluff? How large should it be? How often would it work to be effective? Is this a reasonable amount given their range?

Tasha - Position doesn't change post-flop, unless you're referring to 'relative position', which we can't really be sure we have being the predicted bettor on the flop. There is no change in position between the turn and river. Position is the order of betting, and we will still bet last.

    M2M,

Good point about reverse implied odds.

    Thanks,

BTW: Iamthenewfish, never assume that just cause I play higher I know more. So your advice is appreciated.

I was actually assuming that you know more about how randoms at 10nl than i do, so the fundamentals of some std plays I make at 2nl might not hold true against these players.
