Default Beating the "Any two cards" mindset

I'm on the verge of simply quitting this game because I am always up against players who are firmly in the mindset of "any two cards" and "theres no such thing as bad cards, just bad flops." I try to play super tight and wait for the strong hands, but when my big pocket pairs keep getting busted by people who play 7-4 off, or 10-5 off, etc etc it's frustrating and costly. Is there another way to beat these people or do I just have to hold my head up high and say "at least I went in with the best hand."

There's two things you can do.

    1. Post hands on here so the regs can either confirm you are playing correctly and the victim of variance or (more likely) abuse the life out of you until you learn to play properly (in a friendly way). If you're unsure of this, try asking for help in the commue

    2. Play more poker. If you get past number one and find that you are playing appropriately, then it's just variance, AA has to get cracked by 72 sometimes, well, about 12.8% of the time actually, so just keep plaing and eventually it will start going your way.

But in all probabillity, you are doing something wrong, and realising this may take you a while, but this is the place to do it. The only way to change is to read shitloads of the posts on here, learn the basics of the game and how to become a winning player, learn how to post hands correctly, and gradually start taking stacks.

The Beginners Digest is a great place to start.

Remember the cards don't owe you shit. Your AA doesn't deserve to win.

    Play the game or quit.

playing against the "any two" player is the easiest and most profitable form of poker, i'd say your frustrations are caused by one of two things:

1 - you have ran bad over a small sample against fishy players (this can happen for thousands of hands)

2 - you aren't playing your strong preflop hands in a way that punishes the any two crew for playing any two.

stick around, study the beginner's circle digest and see how players go about analysing hands that get posted in the forums, this will certainly help. good luck.

Do you have tracking software? What stakes are you playing and how many hands have you played?

The root of your problem is that it makes you angry when people play cards in a way that you think is wrong. If anything you should get angry if they play perfectly.

Try not to get too attached to hands if you have a read on how they're playing. A lot of low stakes fishy players don't play back at re-raises without 2 pair. A lot of players at 2nl (I'm assuming) due stack off light, but some play pretty passively without a hand that can beat your overpair. I found that whenever i got in a pot with a nit it was pretty profitable because they wouldn't fold an overpair if I ever outflopped them.

Weak pre-flop hands make weak post-flop hands. Also, these guys tend to play out of position too much which is an even bigger mistake than playing too many hands in position.

    Learn to play post-flop well.
Use position against them like a sledge hammer.
Understand that they will have their two pair and non-non flush hands cracked or end up second best a lot.

How much are you raising preflop?
    what stakes?
    are you fully stacked?
    are your opponents fully stacked?
Are you check raising or leading out?
Are you evaluating the board before making a decision?

be as detailed as possible and give hand samples and these guys will help you

WHAT?????? don't play against the total fish that will shovel money into your stack because they may get lucky and hit a miracle board. Reload and win it back or if they are ratholers see if you can follow them to a new table.

Also , with regards to your sig, probably not a good idea to advertise another affiliate on FTR , you are trying to get referral income by taking potential clients away from FTR. Its also technically wrong when you say there is no catch. The catch is that you are giving away your first deposit bonus which can add up to a lot of money by the time you've blown your way through all there free money offers and will never get rakeback at full tilt etc..

form "the links" terms and conditions

Remember that we do not allow posting of our referral links in places where it's not allowed. Make sure you read the rules for the website/forum before you post. If you post the link where it's not allowed and somebody complains about your link, we are forced to close down your Mob account immediately.
Do you think that a site that has its own referral pages is going to allow you to post this ?.

Versus loose fit or fold players you can call liberally depending on whether you are first or second to act bet the flop or turn after they check.
