Default Raise ATC with one limper???

Just wondering what people think of the following concept:

You're on the button, tight player in early position limps and it's folded to you.

Should you raise ATC in this instance? With the goal of taking the pot on the flop with a cbet.

The theory being the majority of people limping from early position are playing a small pp and looking for a set. So approx 85% of the time they miss and you take it (85% being no set & no obv. draws).

And if this is a good idea, you could prob do this from any position from cutoff to Bigblind, depending on the player types left to act.

Obviously you can't make such huge generallisations and other circumstances will need to be taken into account, but in general what do you think?

If the number one point I relay here is that you should just limp behind when there are a bunch of limpers and you have a good implied-odds hand, then the number two point is that you shouldn't just start raising behind limpers every time you have a marginal hand.

    Yes.

Against nondescript blinds, and a passive limper who folds as little as 40% to your isolation, and as little as 50% to cbets, it is profitable to isolate with any two cards on the button. In this spot, against such a player, I refrain from isolating only for game flow reasons, or if I have one of the least valuable hands. Your T4o, etc. Otherwise, I ball on them.

Folded to me in BB, with one limper, I'm as loose-aggressive, if not more so. What you loose from being OOP I feel is made up for by the superior odds from already having a blind in, and the guarantee of being heads up, should a flop happen.

I think such an attitude is especially important in 6-max, where picking up these tiny pots is vital.

If you've been asking yourself where it is the thinking lag player finds the extra 5-10 percent of hands to play, this is one of the places, in my opinion. Limpers play bad, and you want to play lots of heads up raised pots in position with initiative against them.
