The right situation (aka reads/stats/etc) can make this bet fine, which is an example of why it's so important to have these things.

the flop texture is such that he will peel with his pps, possibly gutshots and ace highs

again, that's going off the assumption we have no reads
Obv, just putting emphasis on how relatively useless it is to post HHs without giving some sort of reads or that you have no reads.
