    Default KK on the river

I don't have a stats program but the villain is a decent player that plays correct hands. Gets attached to some hands especially TPTK. About 15 hands ago, I had top pair average kicker and led from the flop. Two fives came up on the turn and river and on the river he shoved me. I folded so I didn't get to see what he was holding. That affected my decision not to bet on the river. Any tips on how I should have played the hand better?

I chicken out on the river bet a lot generally as well. Any advice?

    Full Tilt No-Limit Hold'em, $0.10 BB (5 handed) - Full-Tilt Converter Tool from FlopTurnRiver.com

    saw flop | saw showdown

    MP ($5)
    Button ($9.75)
    SB ($4.75)
    BB ($11.20)
    Hero (UTG) ($7.65)

Preflop: Hero is UTG with K, K
Hero raises to $0.30, 1 fold, Button calls $0.30, 1 fold, BB calls $0.20

    Flop: ($0.95) 2, 6, 7 (3 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $0.70, 1 fold, BB calls $0.70

    Turn: ($2.35) 9 (2 players)
BB checks, Hero bets $1.60, BB calls $1.60

    River: ($5.55) 10 (2 players)
    BB checks, Hero checks

    Total pot: $5.55 | Rake: $0.55

    Results in white below:
BB had 5, 4 (high card, ten).
Hero had K, K (one pair, Kings).
    Outcome: Hero won $5

the river is a bad card to bet only two pair+ calls on a 4 flush board if he's not terrible

I think you played this hand perfectly because he certainly doesn't call on the river
and you got a bet from him on the turn

if he was drawing to the straight on the high end he'd have a straight or two pair if he was drawing to the gutshot on the flop
busted flush draw doesn't call either unless he has the :Td: and even then he might fold

make your bets stronger on the flop and turn besides that you played fine

I like the check behind on the river. The board has gotten pretty scary for you only having one overpair. If you bet, I doubt there is much that you beat that he'll call you with and if he did raise you, it would be a tough spot.

That said, I would have bet more on the turn as your KK is probably still ahead, but there are a lot of river cards that are scary.

I probably would have bet a little more preflop, i like to protect my big pairs preflop, if i only win the blinds so be it. I want people to throw away their suited connectors and such preflop if i can get them to. I don't like your turn bet much because i'm putting him on a draw but it still wasnt a bad bet.

After writing what i wrote above i looked at what he had. lol i was right about the draw. I woulda checked on the river as well.
