measuring success

I have been trying to figure out how to tell when your skill level is good enough to move up to the next level. The only thing i use to measure my success is the Bankroll management worksheet that is on FTR. I play at cake so most tools like HEM and PT don't work. I am not rolled to move up yet but when i get to 10000 hands i want to be able to look and see what i have done. I don't want to measure my success just in dollars. Right now I have been basing myself on BB/100 overall. and Per session. Is there anything else i should be looking at.

50000 hands at 3 ptbb/100 (or 6 big blinds/100) and you're ready. And even if you play at Cake, you can still keep up with this with a spreadsheet.

I just use $'s, but I have an unreasonable confidence in my ability regardless of winrate.

this was said on another thread...the article is very interesting. It says that not only your winrate is important when you are thinking about moving up. I suggest you read it.

I also don't suggest moving up too aggressively because if you have a downswing and move down it will take you twice as long to get to that level

so it's actually better to stay at one level until you're way overrolled for the next

After reading a few opinions I decided to be overrolled by 20% beyond typical Bankroll Management guidelines to be able to move to the next level and that's what I'm working towards right now. That's because I have issues with betting amounts so I need it to give me a comfort level.

I don't believe that having 50,000 hands is completely necessary (it would take me a year to get there at my 1000 hands/week). However, if you're going to play less hands you need to focus, study and learn more and make sure you are doing the right things all the way along.
