In terms of hand reading, you never know if you're right, unless you go to showdown. So you have no idea if your reads are right. Therefore, as long as you can afford it, would it be worthwhile spewing money to call people to see their cards and whether you're getting accurate?

and personally i wouldnt do it unless i had enough $ and it was low stakes

even then id probably only do it if i hit somewhat of a good hand

I prefer to look at my winrate to see if I have been correct.

But as for a serious answer to your question, hand reading is not about a single hand. It's about the range of hands and narrowing that range. The narrower you get, the better off you are.

Nope. Because we're never trying to hand read someone for 2 specific cards but instead for a narrow but accurate group of hands which he probably has. So knowing which specific two after the fact doesn't really help us.

Besides, your opponents will take each other to show down and you can get your info for free.

Occasionally if an opponent makes a really small bet on the river, and I can't for the life of me figure out what he possibly has, I might call with a missed draw just to see how he's thinking. It has to be pretty cheap though.

I understand about ranges. I was talking about seeing cards to see if you are ranging correctly and that your hunch that he's hit top pair, on a flush draw, has 2 overs, pocket 88 - JJ etc is true.

Watching others for free was something I completely missed! But I did post real late at night, lol!

No, but I have a better suggestion.

Download some video capture program and load up four tables at your stakes that you're just watching. Record your thoughts on hand ranges on the hands you watch and since a good portion of those hands will go to showdown you can test your hand-reading that way.

The video capture is optional, obviously, but good to go back and look at imo.
