free roll exit where did I go wrong - picture included!

Another early exit for me from the latest free roll I entered! Once again I'd really appreciate it if you could tell me what went wrong with my play here

I had A-K off suit, and wanted to raise to try to get some of the limpers out.

I read that if your raising you really need to be raising by 4x the current raise + a blind for each hand (ref Renton article in beginners section) so I raised to 220. This sent everyone out apart from me and Dean8851.
He then re reraised to 600 and I called.

Then the flop came out as you can see in the picture (I don't think the forum software works with betfair so have included this picture).

After the flop he raises to another 200, I've only got 700 chips left here, so go all in - and he calls.

And you can see the result from the picture.

I *think* i've got the call/raises more or less spot on, I have just clicked the save hand history in the client so next time I'll know exactly

What can I do better next time, thanks alot.

Some things to bear in mind about freerolls.

They are hounded by crazy maniacal players who will shove over any two cards. Strategy and knowledge only take you so far in them... until the nuts are gone you're really battling some totally loose players who could have anything.

Now, that said, AK is a strong hand, read up on hands, betting, strategy for SNGs, etc... all available here on the site.

ghost is very much incorrect in this situation, you have only 700 odd chips left with around 1400 already in the pot and you have top pair top kick against a guy who sounds fairly maniacal and bad in general, thus its an insta all in. The only mistake you made in the hand was not shoving over his preflop reraise in th first place. Basically in this hand you were destined to go broke looking at the flop and the fact dean was willing to get it all in pre with his 88.

This is way too much of a blanket statement, and doesn't even really apply in this situation. Committing half your stack, then folding when you flop TPTK is generally pretty bad, especially in a freeroll where the play is loose.

I think a shove pre is probably the way to go here, unless you've got a read of uber-nit.

your mistake in bold. Decide here if you are ahead or behind his range. In mid-stakes cash games (50nl-200nl) you are normally behind. In free-rolls you are normally ahead.

If you are ahead or 50-50 then push, otherwise fold. I would push. To win a tournament you normally have to win at least one race (a hand where you're 50-50 to win), and in tournaments you're almost always aiming to place first - not just make the moeny.

Once a flop comes, you have top pair top kicker (TPTK) in a freeroll early and the pot is greater than your stack. Re-raising all in is fine - but it would have been better earlier.

To win a tournament you normally have to win at least a half dozen races
