Default Is poker tracker nessessary for micro limits?

Ok here is my situation, I play very low limits on pokerstar something like 5 and 10 cents BB tables. I notice that people come and go alot and i hardly see anyone that i played with before. and people are so bad that their plays are very random.
So i am just wondering weather or not Poker Tracker will help me that much at this level? I will get PT in the future, but if i can live ok without it for now i would like to hold off on it for a couple more months since $55 is like 1/3 of my BR at this time.

thanks so much. love this forum! (even the sharks find time to help the little fish)

First and foremost PT is a tool, thet helps you analyze your own game and thats why it´s so helpful and recommended. U won´t be able to identify leaks, improve your overall game or work on certain stats without it.

I'm just starting out and am finding it valuable for self-analysis, but it hasn't been much help evaluating others yet. I'm at the same levels you mentioned, but at Absolute I do see a lot of familiar faces.

I played for over a year online without it and built my BR. But it is definitely ready when you can afford it. I'd say if you keep it in your definite plans, you can wait a bit rather than stress your roll at this time.

i wouldnt buy PT right now. Just download the beta of PT3 since its free and wait until you can buy the new version to actually spend $$ on it.

The beta for PT3 is free for testing atm - but will prob be released towards the end of this month. Then you'll have to pay..

Find it at http://www.pokertracker3.com - not bad for the use you can get out of it atm.. If you want a HUD - check the forums there's an AutoHotKey hud avail - but can't tell you much about it - running under linux /macos - so wrote my own :P

PT3 may cost more than his BR if they release it soon. If you want it buy PT now, don't wait. The PT3 upgrade will be discounted when released if you buy PT now. Once they release PT3, you will not be able to get PT.

As for the OP, It really depends on your goal. What are your plans? If you want to get better you will need it. Sure you can get better without it, but you'll get much better, much faster with it. If your BR is $55 x 3 $165 your rolled to play $5NL at the most. If you spend $55 Your still rolled to play $5NL. But you will get your BR to the $300 or more you need to move to $25NL faster with it.

let me ask you this. How tight are you preflop? How agressive are you on the turn? Do you bet and raise more or Check and fold more? How often are you C betting? Are you a winner from UTG with AQs? How well are you playing 22-99?

You could answer these questions in 5 minutes with PT. Some of these answers could cost you more in a week than PT is worth.

You know anything more about this? What can we expect? (Maybe there's another thread around here on this topic?)

100% agree. At early stages is more about gaining insight into your own play. As you move along, it gives you more info as a foundation for reads that help you learn more about your own play... altho' with deference to Trainer, to the extent a HUD becomes a crutch for not paying attention, it's better to leave it to the minimum.

After a couple of months 9 tabling $10NL at FTP, during which I really only had the ability to make read decisions based on HUD stats, I've dialed back to 3 tabling my new move to $25NL. Still use the HUD, but spend all my down time watching and taking notes -- something I couldn't really do with 9 tables and a crappy UI.

I got my copy of PT for free using a UB referral when I opened my account. In hindsight I'd have been better off paying for it, 'cause I've permanently scrood the pooch on ever getting rake-back at that site!
