pokerstars echeck deposit require Canadian SIN

hello all, here's a question hopefully Canadians can help with.

i'm was thinking of depositing at pokerstars by echeck,
but the transaction required me to enter my Social Insurance Number
is this safe? why would they need my SIN?

yeah even though, i'm giving my banking info to them, i'm thinking
that my SIN would be much more important to guard.

any Canadians with any advice/input is much appreciated

I wouldn't give them my SIN, personally. Not that Stars is likely to do anything with it, but the fewer hackable databases that have stuff like that the better.

pretty sure it's an anti-money laundering thing. e-mail support and ask for an explanation of how they protect your data, we'd all benefit.
