Default taking a semi shot at 2/4

so i am right around 25 bi, and i figured i would take a semi-shot at 2/4. like playing 1-3 tables while playing 1/2. if nothing else ill walk away with some exp and know what to work on. but for now, i am just looking for some advice on what i need to do/work on. i am pretty sure i am going to get pwned, but i think its good for me.

You are going to get 3-bet a hell of a lot more. There are still tons of fish at 2/4 but more likely one or two per table rather than 3 or so at 1/2. The regulars are infinitely better at 2/4 also.

Infinitely better sounds tough, I'd just skip to 3/6 if I were you.

u should get a coach to sweat u while u take the shot ... probably will end up paying for the session and learn a lot more than what u would on your own.

My sample is kinda small since I don't play much, but it seems I'm killing 1/2, yet I will probably seek personal coaching when I decide to jump to 2/4 for keeps.

I have played a bit at 2/4, but always drop back down. Not because I can't beat it, but because it's far more frustrating a game than 1/2, and overall profits for me won't be much higher than 1/2.

2/4 is where you begin to find a bunch of regs who are pretty good 2p2ers who keep up on vid sites. They exist at 1/2, but not a lot since they all end up jumping to 2/4.

I usually advise my students never to get coaching.

well i played about 1k hands today, and i was up 1.5 bi, yay for me. i did a pretty good job table selecting, which was the main reason being up. idk, i feel so outmatched at 2/4 by the regs, and i just dont know what to do about it. part of it is that they are better than me, and part of it is just how much everyone hypes up 2/4 regs.

What I'm thinking is that we shouldn't move up until we no longer need to table/seat select at our current stake.

i know what ur saying, but i think they both accomplish the same means, while almost doubling your profit. maybe sticking around 1/2 for a while playing at any table with all the regs will make you a better player faster, but it wont put the $$$ in your pocket, and thats ultimately why we play this game. sure its fun, but i wouldnt be doing it as much as i do with play money =)

i kinda think the converse of this is true ... if you can table select profitably you should always move up as long as you aren't risking ruin.

i personally don't table select, i never did when i was beating 2/4 and 3/6 ... only times i would leave a table were when i was playing against a bunch of nits who wouldn't gamble w/ me because w/ my style they'd eventually get my money. also as you move higher and there become more regs in general, you need to learn how to play against them, if you are always worried that they are better players than u and that they are levelling u, they will.

there are only like 3 people that i wouldn't sit at a 6max table heads up w/ that play 2/4 and 3/6 ... the rest of them i do it readily because i want that psychological edge over them, it's a strong statement to make when u sit down and immediately start hammering into them knowing they are a regular. it shows them u aren't afraid of them and that u think u have an edge. this can work wonders for u later when at a full 6max table w/ the same opponents. they won't forget the fact that u wanted to play them and they backed out because of lack of edge.

yea just keep moving up until u no longer find any good tables given your skill...once u realize u cant beat a limit, just move back down and keep taking shots only in very juicy games.

Once u did this 3-5 times and u still cant beat the higher limit, id give up
Nine to five is how to survive - I ain't trying to survive / I'm trying to live it to the limit and love it a lot //

Can offer RB deals on most sites, PM me.

Just like you imply, if we can't beat our current regs we're sol vs better ones.
