My plan for after this quarter

Default My plan for after this quarter

I just signed up for rakeback on FTP. A rakeback calculator shows that if I 4 table $1/$2 limit shorthanded I can make about $1000/month just in rakeback. Once this school quater ends (I am going 6 days/week) I want to deposit $1000 on Full Tilt and try to grind these 1/2 tables. I will buy PT once I have made a $55 profit. Once I double my money I will move up to 2/4, provided I have enough hands under my belt to feel secure.
The rakeback calculator hits its highest return when I enter in shorthanded 3/6 table, so this is my ultimate goal. It says I can get around $10,000/month if I play enough. I understand bankroll management and I feel I am fairly disciplined with how I use my money. I have read SSHE and several other books and have a couple of years of experience playing online with slightly positive results (if I am figuring correctly).

Are these numbers to good to be true? Am I kidding myself thinking I can do this? If anybody has any suggestions I would greatly appreciate them. I have never seriously multi-tabled before but I have been practicing on play money tables while I wait to acquire a BR. Is $1000 enough to start out playing multi 1/2 tables?

Sorry if I rambled a little, thanks guys!

What's the highest level you have played? How many hours are these rakeback numbers based on?

The numbers are based on either 4 or 6 hour per day, which I should be able to sustain. As far as the stakes I have played, I have been all over the place but 1/2 is usually the highest I have gone with cash games. I couldn't tell you even a ballpark number of hands I have played. I used to only play SNGs but lately have been more drawn to cash games. My main goal is to build up a BR to play sats for big tourneys, both live and online.

Can anybody give me some numbers on their rakeback amounts?

Wait, you're saying you're gonna play 1/2 limit on 4 tables with a $1000 bankroll? Are you insane?

    I don't play limit, but I'd assume you'd need a lot more...

I've always heard that 300-500 BBs is a good BR for limit play, but I am not sure how multi-tabling affects this. I will probably start out with two tables since I am inexperienced with multi tabling.

    read the bankroll management stickies.
if you jump from play money to 200nl you will lose your entire roll within a week.

um, deposit $600, clear the 100% ($600!) bonus playing 10nl (0.05/0.1) and moving to 25nl if you get to $800. Then start the long slog of being good enough to eventually be a winning player at 1/2.

$1000 is fine for 1/2 as long as you are prepared to move to .5/1 for a while if you drop below 400bb

Daven, I am not "Jumping from play money to 200 nl". I am not jumping from play money at all. I just said I was practicing multi tabling with play money. I know that this has no bearing on actual play. Also I will be playing 1/2 LIMIT, not no limit. I have 3 years of solid experience, I am not just some noob kid who wants to get rich quick playing poker.

sorry, my mistake. Taking this into account, it sounds as though your idea is a good one. I look forward to jealously watching you play 3/6, best of luck! oh, as for learning to multi=table, i think that spoon wrote a good post on this.
