    Default Hi From Bangkok Thailand

    Name: Tom
    Age: 45
What do you play? NLHE freerolls
At what stakes do you play? Free
How long have you been playing? Since July 07
Where do you mostly play? Full Tilt, Pokerstars, Doyles, Pacific and UB .
Why did you come to FTR? Found it on Yahoo
Do you have any goals (and how can we help)?

I'm an American who lives in Bangkok Thailand and there aren't any (legal) casinos here and I cannot fund an account other than by Western Union. Thus I'm restricted to just free play and freerolls. I have Poker Academy Pro, Turbo Holdem, and Turbo Tournament and that's where I first learned to play holdem. I want to create a monthly income of $500 by playing SnG's etc. That may not sound like much but here in Thailand that's a good income, and about half of what I currently make teaching at 2 universities. Eventually I'd like to be a poker professional, either online or live play if I return to the US or move to another country. Perhaps you could tell whether playing freerolls can help me, or if I should play the programs I already have.

    Sawasdee krap! (goodbye in Thai)

    Welcome to FTR!

Freerolls can certainly help you get some practice in, unfortunately you'll need a good swing of luck in order to get off the ground - it is recommended that you have at least 20 buyins for any level you're playing at, and even if you win a freeroll you probably won't get more than 10 buyins.

Do you have any friends in the US that could somehow fund your Full Tilt account then you could wire them the money?

If you can't fund an account other than by Western Union, how could you cash out?

Is gambling (online or live) outright banned in Thailand? Have you made sure Thailand isn't in the banlist in the online poker room Terms and Conditions?

    Good luck.

I've tried all forms of funding my accounts, and they've been unsuccessful, but Western Union should work. I assume I can receive my money via WU, or I could have a check deposited into my US bank account. Soon I'll use WU to fund either Doyles or UB. ( I love FT but they don't accept WU) I have some money in the US but I'd prefer to use what I have in Thailand, and I'd rather not bother my family or friends in the USA. I have a British friend who'll bring me a Ukash card, which I can use to fund some accounts. I can play poker online, and I can even use HideIP to mask my IP. Technically online gaming is illegal here but as with everything in Thailand what's the law and what's enforced are two different things. (One of the many reasons I love living here!)

Khap khun krap (thank you in Thai)

Sawasdee kaap! Welcome to FTR, it's great to have you here. Hope that you manage to get some money onto a site and start playing for real money.
